New Beginnings 2006

Ginger

December 31, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Ginger!

July 31, 2008 – Ginger has been a wonderful addition to our family. We were so luck to adopt Ginger from Labrador Friends of the South on December 31,2006. It was a wonderful way to ring in the new year. Our entire family is crazy about her. She absolutely loves to be with her family. She has a weak spot for squeaky toys. Ginger loves to wake our girls. Every morning she serves as the alarm clock. She loves to shower people with kisses. I can’t imagine our life without her. We feel very lucky to have her as a member of our family!

October 2, 2008 – Ginger has been a wonderful addition to our family.  We are  all are crazy about her.  She has been such a great dog from day one.  We were amazed at how calm she was when we brought her home. Ginger slept in her crate(for the entire night) from the first night we brought her home.  She was very easy to train.    Thank you Jenny for telling us to put a bell by the back door.  Anytime Ginger needs to go out she just rings the bell.   My husband just finished building a fence.  She absolutely loves to be outside. She has a weak spot for squeaky toys.  Every few weeks we go to Petsmart and she goes and picks out a squeaky stuffed animal.  They don’t last too long.  She adores the children.  Every morning she serves as their alarm clock.  She loves to wake the girls.  I can’t imagine our life without her.  We feel very lucky to have her as a member of our family! I have attached a poem that my daughter wrote about Ginger. Thank you for all that you do.

Getting a cat or getting a dog
It’s such a hard choice, your mind’s in a fog.
But if I wanted a cat, or even a rat,
My pet could be ugly and fat.
So I chose a puppy named Ginger
She loves to lick your finger
She’s happy and brown
Even when she’s sad, she’ll never frown.
On New Year’s Eve we got her
My mom now has a new daughter
She might sleep all day,
But still has enough energy to play and play.
Ginger is very good
Which everyone has understood
She runs like lightning
And even some times it can be frightening
At nighttime she’s fuzzy and warm
She’s just like a small blanket during an ice storm
Everyone says that she’s cute and so big!
And I just smile and say, “She’s my cute little pig!”
People ask, “What is she mixed with?”
I say, “Chocolate lab, and a pinch of Pit bull.”
“Pit bulls aren’t mean, it’s the owners fault!”
They say, “Those dogs act like all they are fed is salt!”
Chocolate labs are nice and friendly
And they act never unfriendly
They retrieve and jump
Even if they are round and plump.
Ginger is very kind and sweet,
There is no way she can be beat
Because she is the best puppy you will ever meet!

Merlin

December 30, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Merlin!

January 1, 2007 – We wanted to give you an update and let you know that Merlin (now Midas) is doing well.  He has quickly won the hearts of everyone in our family.  He is settling in to his new home and really wants the cat to come out and play (she is having none of that!)  He truly is a good dog, loves to play and go for walks.  We thank you so much for him!

Sammie Y

December 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sammie Y!

March 2009 – Her first snow!!!

Apollo

December 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Apollo!

December 31, 2006

I am happy to report that being a foster flunky was one of my best successes ever!! Hank the Cowdog formerly known as Apollo is truly AWESOME!!! Maizey adores him, Divit endures him and the cats make every effort to ignore him! (not easy with his big old self!!) He is by far the best Lab we have ever had and all of my friends and family have lined up to take him should the need arise!!! He is so good natured and just goes along with the flow! Some family somewhere has lost a great dog! We could not be happier and there is more than enough puppy love going on at our house!

Now we are truly at our pet limit and my fostering days may be over forever since I did not even make it out of the parking lot before I knew he was a keeper!

Here’s to 2007 and to spreading the lab love to even more families!!

Max

December 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Max!

Jingle

December 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Jingle!

Clyde

December 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Clyde!

Scout

December 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Scout!

December 19, 2006 – Scout is wonderful. He has made us a complete family again! Something was missing when we didn’t have a dog. Lucas and Marc are fighting over who will walk him, where he will sleep, and who will feed him. So far, he is the calmest puppy I have ever had and loves to play, but loves to sleep. Thank you so much for everything.  Happy Holidays!

Bama

December 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bama!

Thor

December 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Thor!

January 27, 2007 – Thor (now known as Chief) is doing EXTREMELY well.  Anyways, cannot tell you how happy I am with the dog.  He will not walk down the stairs in front of me, mess in the house, chew on things, beg for food…..Am just perplexed on why somebody would abandon him????

Dobie

December 9, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Dobie!

December 13, 2006 – Mr. Dobie is doing great.  We are calling him Bodie now and he is quite the cutie.  He has acclimated nicely and loves all the toys we bought him.  He sure does love to sleep (wherever Billy and I are he just comes up and makes himself comfortable).  Keep up the great job rescuing these deserving dogs.  I’m trying to convince Billy to take another one in the near future!

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Aspen

December 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Aspen!

December 11, 2006 – We love Aspen so much and she has been a perfect addition to our family!  She eats well, sleeps great, and has only had one “accident” in the house.
Now if we could just get her tail fully healed we would be at 100%.
I want to thank you both for bringing her into our lives. The best part of my day is coming downstairs and hearing Scott talk “baby talk” to her then try to cover it up when I walk in the room 🙂

January 8, 2007 – She has had a great holiday season! She was a trooper as we travelled to 3 Christmas celebrations, including one at the lake. She LOVED the water. Luckily, it had been about 70 degrees there all week, so we were not too concerned when she got about chest deep. I have attached a picture of her on her first “road trip”.  Aspen is well- loved by my husband, me, and especially our other dog, Larry. He was a little hesitant at first, but as you can tell by these pictures, they are now best friends! They do everything together.  Her tail are is doing quite well. I am so glad that she is feeling better. While there is only a nub left, it “wags” whenever she is happy, which is ALL THE TIME!! She loves the back yard and loves sleeping on the couch with her mom and dad!

Spanky

December 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Spanky!

April 23, 2007 – Will send you some pictures if I can get him to stop playing long enough to sit still.  Max and Kassie play and sleep all day long.  He is a wonderful dog and a real sweetie-unless Kassie hasn’t finished her chewy-then he is naughty…..he takes it!!

July 29, 2008 – Max is doing great!!  He is a really smart dog that needs a “job”.  My 11 year old daughter has been watching the show “It’s me or the Dog” and has picked up some great training tools and tips.  He loves the attention and the treats!  He has a girlfriend, her name is Lilly, another white lab, but she is a puppy-they run and play non-stop!!  He does like to sleep and his favorite spot is on the landing of the steps-so he can keep an eye on the house and protect us from outside if needed. He also likes his bed.  I had it outside my door with Kassie’s bed (something she does not use since she sleeps with my daughter) and he dragged it into my room and put it where he wanted it and now sleeps in that spot at night if not on the landing.  Although sometimes he gets up on the bed in the middle of the night.  My son is getting a new bed-a queen; it will be interesting to see if Maxie starts to sleep on his bed!!  He is really funny after we have been out of town.  I usually have someone stay at the house with the dogs for trips longer than 2 nights and as soon as we get home, the greeting is awesome-he gives us all big hugs.  He is still really soft and still loves to give kisses!!  He is a true lab/golden-loves to play, go for walks and play ball.  The kids play “keep away chase” with him-he gets the ball and you run after him to try and get it back…them you get the ball and he chases you!!  Here are a few pictures-we love our Maxie and believe he was let go because he was suppose to be with us!!

January 25, 2009 – I just took a few funny pictures of Max and thought you’d enjoy seeing him.  He is such a loveable dog and has several girl friends in the neighborhood (a 14 mo old lab puppy and a 9 yr Siberian husky).  My 13 yr old son tries to get him to sleep on his bed, but Max loves his Mom!!  He still hates thunder when I am gone and only ate the house (lower door frame and dry wall-my door) once in the past 8 months (really missed 2 weeks of summer playmates-back in the crate he goes-out of crate as of November).  He and Kassie have several favorite napping spots-the landing is one of them, where they watch over the house and bark at approaching (and driving by) people and animals.

Sawyer

December 2, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sawyer!

May 18, 2007 – Hey there! Sawyer (now Tucker) is doing great!  We are so fortunate to have him as part of our family.  He gets along wonderfully with our chihuahuas and even lays on his back to play with them because they are so small.  He is VERY smart, probably the smartest dog I’ve ever had.  My Mom taught him how to shake hands in 15 minutes, went without doing it for 3 days, and did it perfectly when we tried it again.  He is such a sweet boy and we love him very much!  I have attached a picture that is somewhat recent- it was taken a couple of months ago.

Faith

December 2, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Faith!

Boo

December 2, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Boo!

July 27, 2008 – Boo, now Angus is doing great.  He is a WONDERFUL dog.  He has so much personality and has really grown to be such a big part of our family.  He lives to swim and retrieve, and has learned to open doors so when we are at my parents’ lake house, we have to keep him in a kennel when we aren’t watching him closely because if he is loose (as he usually is), he will let himself out to go swimming!  Thank you so much for saving him from the shelter and giving us such a great addition to our family.  When we move to a larger house with a fenced in yard, we will no doubt be in touch to find a friend for Angus.

Murphy

December 1, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Murphy!

December 5, 2006 – Murphy is doing well!  He is very sweet and adjusting well. Thanks for all your help!!

Arnold

November 29, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Arnold!

December 5, 2006 – Just wanted to send you a few pics of Arnold. He got his shots today and his first bath! We love him so much and are so happy that he is a part of our family!

January 22, 2007 – Arnold is doing great! I never thought I could love him so much! He goes every where with me. He weighs 27 pounds now. He has already got most of his front adult teeth growing in. We have taught him how to sit, lay, shake and he is learning how to stay.

July 28, 2008 – Arnold is still our baby even after we have had an addition to our family. Arnold as a human baby brother. And is doing great with the change. He is very protective of his brother Braden and likes to nap beside of him.

Several weeks ago we went to Florida on vacation and was able to take Arnold with us. He got to play in the intercoastal daily and even got to see his best friend that recently moved to Florida. He loves the water.

Sylvia

November 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sylvia!

Shelly

November 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Shelly!

November 26, 2006 – Actually, she never responded to Shelly so after a lot of trial and error she responds to Izzy so that is her new name!   She is doing great;  she has an appointment with our vet sat at 9am to get her started on her Heartguard and flea stuff.  She is doing well with housebreaking and has only had 2 accidents.

June 25, 2007 – Izzy is doing great.  She loves to go to the dog park and ride around.  We take a bowl of ice cubes and water in the car for her and she thinks she is something!!!!  She has gotten a little overweight so the vet put her on a diet last week.  She goes to get groomed every 3 weeks.  She is a great dog.  We love her very much and I think she loves us too!

July 25, 2008 – Miss Izzy is doing fine. She loves to go “bye” and gets to ride at least once a week.  She loves those rawhide chews and absolutely loves food!!!  Don’t we all!!! She still gets freaked out with sirens and thunder but that also could be worse.  She seems to be happy- we have a new great grandson who is 8 months old-Izzy isn’t too sure what to make of him but she does give him her chewies (her rawhide things) our adult daughter calls Izzy “her little sister”  she seems to be very happy and is very loved by our whole family-  she goes to the dog park once a week and does well with the other dogs, she likes to walk and play ball- what else can I say  we love her and i think she loves us too!!!

Chaya

November 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Chaya!

Stevie

November 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Stevie!

November 20, 2006 – This is Sunny’s new brother below!  A 2 yr old yellow lab, and almost her twin.  The link is below for the group we used to rescue him. “Dudley” is a gorgeous, pure bred, yellow, male lab, and was about to be put to sleep before they picked him up! 🙁    We went to one of their events and they had many great labs, so pass along to anyone looking for a great dog!  You can also call them and tell them what you are looking for, and they will notify you when one comes available….

There are many great organizations like this 🙂

February 29, 2008 – Dudley, formerly Stevie, is doing great!  He is in the black collar, with the darker face, and loves his sister Sunny.  As you can see!  Oh – and his daddy. 🙂  We like to call him a really big lap dog, because all 70 lbs likes to lay in your lap as often as possible!  He doesn’t like anything quite as much as tennis balls.  He is the sweetest doggie on Earth and has made us all SO happy.  Thank you for bringing him to us!

June 10, 2008 – Attached are photos of Dudley (formerly Stevie), adopted Thanksgiving 2006, with his sister Sunny. Dudley has the black collar and the darker face. Dudley is your typical lab – LOVES to fetch, swim, and do anything that involves other people or dogs. He has made our home soooo happy! He is a sweet, loving, affectionate, playful pup. Not to mention, he is gorgeous – everyone assumes we got Dudley from a breeder. Thank you for helping us find sweet Dudley!

Goldie A

November 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Goldie A!

Buddy C

November 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Buddy C!

November 20, 2006 – Buddy is doing great!!  He is the happiest dog I have ever met!!  Casey (our other dog) is getting used to having another dog around.  It’s funny to watch Buddy follow Casey as he learns the “morning routine” and adjust to our household.  Casey has always loved going on long walks, so it’s nice to have another dog along!!!  Buddy loves life and his personality reflects it!!  Thank you!!

August 5, 2008 – This is Casey and Buddy. Both are rescue dogs and have the biggest hearts. Casey is the more “serious” one and loves to play tug. She is so graceful and absolutely beautiful when she runs. Buddy is the “goofy” one and will do anything to play a game of catch outside. He is also the “snuggler” of the family. Both dogs are perfect for each other and have given us hours of entertainment. They have been such a joy in our lives.

Melody

November 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Melody!

April 23, 2007 –  Thanks so much for your interest in Melody.  We renamed her Riley and she is doing absolutely wonderful.  I’ll write more soon when my kids can put a picture on the internet for me to send.

July 26, 2008 – How wonderful that your organization cares so much about the dogs it places!  I don’t have any pictures as I’m not too good with the computer, but Riley is wonderful!  She has the sweetest disposition of any animal I’ve ever known.  She gets along great with our other dog who is 11 years old and who has taught her all she needs to know!  She is and has been from the start a wonderful addition to our family and I can’t imagine she was ever not here!  Thanks so much for caring!

Aspen Y

November 8, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Aspen Y!

November 27, 2006 – Here is a couple of pictures of me in my new home. My new family is really great and they have been taking real good care of me, especially my buddy Cameron. I get to go for lots of walks every day and we even go to the playground on weekends.  It’s past my bed time so I have to say goodnight for now but I’ll write you again soon.   Paws and Licks,   Aspen

March 7, 2007 – Aspen did very well with the surgery (she was just spayed) and she had no complications.  We had our post surgical follow-up on Monday, March 5, 2007 and her incision line looks great.   Aspen is pretty much back to normal.  She still loves to chew sticks.  Her personality is wonderful and she loves her new family.  She is well mannered and loves playing with our 5 year old son, Cameron.  I will forward some pictures to you soon.

August 10, 2008 – Hi, My name is Aspen. I am a 2 year old Yellow Lab and Border Collie mix.  My family adopted me in November 2006 from LFS when I was only 14 weeks old. I never had a chance to thank my foster family and all the great people from LFS for taking such good care of me until I was adopted, so I’ll use this opportunity now to say “THANK YOU.”  I have a wonderful 2 legged brother named Cameron. He’s 6 years old and we play together all the time. My favorite game is grabbing one of his stuffed animals and making him chase me all around the house trying to catch me. I have learned how to do all the basic doggy stuff and then some. I’m exceptionally masterful at manipulation. It’s amazing the treats I can get just by making those cute puppy faces. I have to go now. Mom and Dad do not want me on their computer that long. I hope you enjoyed reading my little story.

Kylie

November 8, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Kylie!

January 3, 2007 – Yes, Kylie (we’ve renamed her Kadin) is doing very well. She had her last round of shots right before Christmas and she had a great time traveling with us over the holidays. I don’t have any of the most recent pictures of her here at work right now, but I do have these two that are quite cute.

She is growing….she’s about 22 or 23 pounds now. (about a pound a week) And boy can she run! We’re thinking she has some kind of terrier breed in her the more we learn, and our vet seems to think so also. She is learning to fetch a tennis ball and will run away from you if she has a frisbee in her mouth. She’s absolutely wonderful and we love having her around. Sometimes she’ll even leave the cat alone and they can nap together on the couch.

Mocha

November4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Mocha!

January 9, 2007 –

I am sorry that it has taken so long for me to send an update.  We have changed Mocha’s name to Ellie.  It is short for Eleanor, my husband loves “Gone in 60 seconds.”  Our other daughter, a coonhound, is Shelby GT 500.  Ellie is wonderful!! A mama’s girl, which is great because Shelby is a daddy’s girl.  Ellie follows me everywhere I go.  Ellie and Shelby get along great.  They are sisters!  When we go on our daily walks, they have to walk right beside each other, sometimes they are so close that they are touching.  it is the sweetest thing.  If Shelby wants to do something, she will find Ellie so she will come along.  She has started to put on a little weight, only about 2 or 3 pounds.  We could not have asked for a better dog.  Cade is training her to be a duck dog.  She loves to swim, in my aunts heated pool, wit my cousin’s lab.  Ellie has a lot of cousins and friends that she loves to play with.  Thank you so much for putting Ellie in our lives.  May be one day Cade will let me foster again! 🙂  Thanks again!  I’ll send pictures soon!   The mom that loves Ellie!

August 17. 2008 – I would love to give an update on Ellie.  Cade and I bought a house just north of Macon that has a great backyard.  We promptly had it fenced in so Ellie and her sister Shelby ( a coon hound) would have lots of room to run and play.  Living outside of the city Ellie has been able to see all kinds of wildlife from deer, rabbits, funny bugs to lots of birds.  We don’t live far from Lake Jackson, and have found out that Ellie really loves the water.  She has several water toys that she loves to jump in and fetch.  Ellie and Shelby are also expecting a baby brother in November.  Keeping every one’s toys separate will be a challenge.  Ellie is going great she is healthy and happy!!!  She has made a wonderful addition to our family.  We couldn’t imagine life without her!  Thanks for bringing her into our lives! (Even though it made me a foster failure. :)) I will send pictures soon!**

Scotty

November 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Scotty!

Koko

November4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Koko!

November 6, 2006 – We have renamed little Koko to Zoey as we lost our Cocoa 4 months ago and it’s too soon for another one and I think Zoey fits her much better.  She is doing great and playing so well with Maggie, they are having so much fun.  She had a little trouble with tee tee in the bathroom the first night but think she is now on the right road as she is more familiar with the doggie door and yard.  Took them walking Sunday morning and she did so well on the leash I was surprised at how easily trained she is.  Maggie is sharing everything with her, all toys and food and I think they have really bonded.  I’m so happy that she picked us for her forever home.

May 18, 2007 – I took Zoey and Maggie to PetLodge to swim in the pool but they would have nothing to do with the water.  I was beginning to think they “just looked like Labs” and really weren’t.   I bought them a plastic baby pool and filled it with water and it took Zoey about 30 seconds to get in and start playing,  now I have to fill it twice a day to keep water in it so guess at least Zoey is a Lab.   Next time I’ll take them to Group Swim and maybe they’ll get the idea from the other dogs. I also took some pictures of her in it and will try to send them to you.  She is sooooo sweet and loveable and sleeps right next to me in bed.  She did have stress related breakouts twice when I first got her but she is great now.  It is so good to see her playing with Maggie, of course I don’t have any grass in my backyard because of their running and she loves to dig so you have to watch where you are stepping or you’ll step into a hole..   I figure that’s OK as its their yard.  If I had a bigger yard and more $$$ I would have more labs.

June 2, 2007 – What a beautiful girl I’ve grown to be!

November 2008

Shawnee

November 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Shawnee!

November 16, 2006 – We renamed Shawnee to Captain and he is doing great in his new home. He has taken to the house and loves the back yard.  He learned the doggie door and loves to eat his raw hide bones in the sun. It ‘s quickly becoming a “bone yard”!

Captain also likes to chase the squirrels around and loves attention from anyone!  We had a little problem with him chewing on household items but we believe that is coming to an end. He’s getting (so are we) a lot of exercise with 2 walks a day.

We loving having him and it’s a joy coming home to such a great Lab to play with.

May 19, 2007 – Captain is doing great and loving life. We are so happy to have him. I’ve been watching the web site for a little brother for Captain, maybe a Yellow Lab puppy?  I’ve seen some but the timing was not there. We’ve made some great steps with Captain so I wanted to keep focus on him before training another one.  But, we are always on the lookout.  Anyway, here’s an update on Captain and some pictures. (we have lots of them)  It’s been six months since adopting Captain and we love them. He’s become such an important part of our lives. Our family and friends are amazed how handsome, loving and mellow he is. He just wants to have his belly rubbed and is always looking for attention. Captain’s not a barker. He is very quite and only barks at the door bell (which he just started doing) and the neighborhood possum! He guards the bark yard from squires and has buried bones all over the place! The only dog I know that doesn’t chew on a bone. He goes and buries it! I wonder if his brother does the same thing.   We did have to create him at first because of some chewing problems (separation anxiety) but he’s been create free for nearly 3 months now. While we are at work he enjoys the radio and sleeps on the bed! Of course, he is a house dog so he has a doggie bed next to ours.Captain is a good listener and very behaved. We only had one accident in the house and that’s because he’s afraid of balloons and we had some next to the doggie door. Lesson learned on our part. We’ve taken a few trips to Florida and he’s great to travel with. He just sits in the back and sleeps. We have a doggie park close by so we take him there to have play time with other pups and run out some energy. He’s just an amazing Laband we are so happy to have him. After six month he knows he has a nice new home.

Nate

November 1, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Nate!

November 3, 2006 – Mr. Nate is doing great!  We have decided to re-name him Matt.  It rhymes with Chat our previous Lab we had.  Half the times Sarah is calling Matt, Chat.  Matt and us are getting acquainted and his new home.  Thursday, we had our first walk around the neighborhood.  Also, he is playing with all the toys we got him.  His favorite place in the house is our keeping room which gives him a good view of our informal dining area and the family room.  This afternoon we will walk Matt in the Roswell park.  We are just waiting for it to warm up a little more.  Well, a big thanks for helping us find and getting Matt for our family.

Taz

October 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Taz!

October 29, 2006 – Here I am in my new home, under my nice quilt in case I get a little chill.

November 4, 2006 – Taz is doing fine, no accidents, no fussing he waits by the door if I leave.  He is getting stronger every day, actually took off when we were working outside the other day but I caught him and made him stay inside the rest of the day.  He didn’t like that at all, cried like a baby.  My great grandsons were here all weekend and he tolerated it very well, they are 2 and almost 4.  We’re still very careful with that situation.  Thanks for checking, I will try to bring him by the next time you have an open house.  He has definitely become my dog.

May 18, 2007 – Taz or Tazzer as the name has moved to is doing just great he has almost all his hair back and rules the roost.  He stays in the yard except when other animals are around.  The hardest thing with him has been trying to keep his weight under control.  I have been trying to show up at one of the open house programs  and one of these days I may.  My camera is not working at this time so no picture.  Thanks for asking.

Emily

October 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Emily!

May 23, 2007 – Emily is doing great.  She is great with our children and that is the important thing.  I will try to send pictures as soon as I can.

Moka

October 21, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Moka!

November 11, 2006 – Moka is doing great!  She has adjusted to our family beautifully!  We are thrilled to have her.  I will send you pictures soon.

December 29, 2006 – Merry Christmas Moka!  We adopted her in October and couldn’t be happier.  She is the perfect dog for our family.  Thanks for all that you do!

Remmy

October 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Remmy!

November 13, 2006 – Remmy is doing great, he learned how to get out of his pen in the kitchen, so he was switched to a crate last night.  He’s still in the kitchen at night while he is getting potty trained, but he’s learning fast.  He’s doing fine at 15 lbs and counting.

Petunia

October 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Petunia!

October 27, 2006 – She is great!  We just love her – I can’t imagine a sweeter dog.  She has become our “Bailey girl” and we can’t get enough of her.  She was great with my Mom and excited to see us when we got back.  She had a great check-up at the vet to get heartworm meds and ear cleaning.  I will send you a picture of her with the boys!   Thanks so much!

November 29, 2006 – We are doing a Christmas picture this weekend with Bailey and I will send it to you!  She is the GREATEST dog!  She is even making “dog friends” now.  Thank you for her!!!

Max

October 15, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Max!

November 11, 2006 – No pictures yet but I will get them to you as soon as there are some.  Max is now known as Henry and is responding to his name as well as commands.  He is getting along great with Belle and they are both enjoying the fall weather with long walks and chasing each other around the yard.  He has been a great addition and we are so happy that he is here.

July 26, 2008 – Henry has been an awesome addition and is getting along great with everyone.  I don’t have any recent pictures but will get some to you soon.  He is always happy and at the door to greet me after a long day at work.  I am very luck to have him.  Thanks so much.

Drambuie

October 7, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Drambuie!

October 12, 2006 – Thank you!  All is well so far, and we’ve finally come up with our own name for the little guy.  Since he’s a shorty and chocolate colored, we’re going with a double meaning “Mousse” (as in the chocolate pudding and the obviously much bigger animal!)

Thanks again, for everything…we’re loving every moment with our newest family member!!

May 18, 2007 –  Thanks so much for your email regarding Mousse (formerly known as Drambuie)! We are LOVING that boy and he is doing great! We keep in touch periodically with Robin, who just yesterday sent us some photos of Mousse’s sister, Jazzy and we all got a kick out looking at them to see the striking similarities. I’m emailing from work right now, but when I’m home this weekend, and we’ll try to get some pictures to you guys…we definitely have tons of them! He’s just about 50 lbs. now, whish is about 15 pounds heavier than his sister! We asked the vet if his weight was something to be concerned about, but he reassured us that he thought he was fine where he was. He recuperated nicely from his neutering surgery, which we were happy about, and the only minor issue we ran into was a slight ear infection, which cleared right up with a prescription and ear wash from Dr. Hardee. However, besides that, he has adjusted wonderfully and he and Rusty (our other pound puppy) are loving each other’s company. Hope all is well with you guys and we’ll try to get those photos to you soon!

Ameretto

October 7, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Amaretto!

October 10, 2006 – She is doing great! We did change her name to Samantha. We are calling her Sam. She is terribly smart and an extreme joy thus far. I think I mentioned that I work from home and so we hang out all day. We are getting into our routine very nicely. Breakfast between 8-9, playtime with me between 10-11, potty breaks all day, walk between 5-6, playtime with John between 6-7. She loves her new bed (very soft and the perfect size). We have three squeaky toys, a soccer ball, and of course the tennis ball toy you gave us. The squeaky toys are a raccoon (who lost its striped tail this morning while playing), a bright pink pig, and a dog with floppy ears (I have a feeling that the floppy ears may be a casualty soon as well). She is leaning towards the pink pig as her next favorite after the tennis ball toy. She loves to play fetch and is just learning to play tug. She has had only 1 accident in the house (the first day we got her – none since then) and loves her crate. She is sleeping in her crate in our bedroom and has slept through the night three nights in a row (hasn’t whined in her crate at all). She does get to come up into the bed between 6:30 and 7am (she LOVES it). She sleeps about 2 hours out of the day off and on and has the cutest dreams. She is doing very well on the leash. The last walk we went on there was no tension in the leash as she walked at my pace and is very attentive to my commands. In fact, she has the Sit command down perfectly. We couldn’t be happier with her. She is beautiful and is a wonderful addition to our family. Below are some pics – enjoy!

August 1, 2008 – Samantha is doing great! We are constantly spreading the news about Labrador Friends of the South and what a wonderful experience we have had thus far. She is now full grown and about 45 lbs. She saw snow for the first time in January. She had a blast trying to bite the snow as it was falling, not to mention fetching the snow balls and then eating them. Sam continues to impress us with how smart she is. She has been able to identify each of her toys by name. So, we can now say “where’s your tennis ball?” or “where’s your rope?” and she goes and gets them. So cute!!! Her favorite thing besides the tennis ball is going to Chick-fil-A. Yes, she knows what Chick-fil-A means…a car ride, the smell of chicken and a treat at the drive-thru window, followed by a car ride home …it’s puppy heaven! We continue to be blessed by her presence. We often ask ourselves what did we do without her. Attached are some pictures of her in the snow and our most recent family “photo-shoot.” Thanks again!

Sonny

October 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sonny!

October 7, 2006 – THANK YOU SO MUCH! You were right….Sonny is the perfect dog for my dad. He did great on the long trek back to South Carolina and handled the chaotic introduction to all the other grandchildren very well. You would never know he hadn’t lived there his whole life!!! My dad is simply amazed by this dog. Today Sonny and my dad went to The Citadel/Wofford football game. Sonny was the main attraction and loved all the attention. My father was so proud. Please know that we are forever grateful for helping fill this hole in my dad’s heart. We truly consider Sonny a gift from God!! We will keep in touch and send some new pictures later. I can’t say it enough…. Thank you!

Lucy

September 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Lucy!

October 1, 2006 – A Lucy update (see attached pictures) — she spent the first week adjusting to her new surroundings and environment.  She really enjoys romping around in our large, fenced-in back yard with our older Yellow Lab, Jackson.  In
fact, playing keep-away with the ball (from Jackson) and attending impromptu doggie play group with Jackson’s best buddies (Rush:  Brittany, Charlie:  Aussie) are two favorite activities of hers.  I used to train Labs for waterfowl hunting in Vermont, so I’m big on training & structure — we started last week with some basic commands, and Lucy has been a quick
study.  Feeding has been an experience — Lucy and Jackson literally race to see who can finish first and intrude into each other’s bowl space (no protection issues whatsoever).  So, she’s quite the eater.  Lastly, our girls have really enjoyed playing with Lucy, but head for high-ground occasionally to spare themselves from the overabundance of kisses that they
get as a result.

Cassie

September 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Cassie!

September 25, 2006 – Cassie is asleep next to me right now actually.  She had a great weekend at the house with the kids and they’ve all bonded so well.  Cassie is following the kids everywhere and is so good with them.  She’s doing great in the yard and pottying, etc as well.   Already VERY spoiled girl and we love her.

Roxanne

September 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Roxanne!

September 26, 2006 – She is adjusting really well.  (We named her Lucy after “I Love Lucy”).  We start obedience training next week.

Thank you again for bringing her into our life.

September 13, 2007 – You wanted some recent photos of Lucy (Roxanne) and I apologize that I didn’t send them sooner.  Things have been busy on our end but as
you can see Lucy is doing really well and is SPOILED!  She rotates from our bed to the couch or her own dog bed.  I can’t believe we have had her almost a year.  We are making plans to celebrate “Lucy Day” on September 23rd.  She is going to have a trip to Piedmont Park, will get some new toys (although not that as if she needs more she has 2 baskets full now) and we will top it off with a strawberry cupcake!  We really enjoy having her as part of our family and she had developed quite the personality.  She is very sassy and
definitely thinks she owns the house!

November 14, 2008 update:  Here I am with my family back for a visit at the annual Holiday Reunion party….I’m such a lucky dog!  I hope all the Labrador Friends dogs find wonderful homes like I did!!!

Callie

September 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Callie!

Tara

September 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Tara!

September 30, 2006 – Just wanted to give you an update on Tara (now named Zoe). The whole family has bonded with her. She is amazing with the kids and is always at someone’s side (or feet!) She loves playing fetch in the backyard, but is very calm in the house. The vet could not believe what a great dog she is. She already knows certain commands and we start training next week. Thank you for our newest member of the family.

May 17, 2007 – Hi, Zoe (formally Tara) is doing great. We moved yesterday and she is up at Atlanta Dogworks until Sat. morning. Greg has done some training with her (he is wonderful!) Hopefully she will like the new house. It has a pool, so we think so! She has settled in great and the kids love her. The cats still really do not want anything to do with her, but the younger one is learning to tolerate her. She LOVES getting out of the house whether for a ride or walk. She sees the leash and shakes so hard you can barely get the leash on her! I will send some pictures once we are settled.

Katrina

September 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Katrina!

September 26, 2006 – Little Miss Katrina (now known as Savannah) is having a blast with us. Yesterday was her first day of school and boy was she pooped last night, wouldn’t even get

November 7, 2006 – Here’s one on Halloween where she was a bumble bee with her cousin Caroline. She was not happy, but we only made her wear it for 5 minutes to take some pictures, one of Jon training her on the leash (she’s getting much much better), one of her in her new bed, and her on top of us sleeping (this could be a problem when she gets bigger!)  She insists on sitting on top of us when we’re on the floor!

She goes on her last visit to the vet for awhile on Saturday to get her last booster and rabies and then her spading in early January.  We have decided to drive to the Northesat for the holidays because we can’t bear to leave her for a week although the girls at her day care wouldn’t mind, they love her and fight who takes care of her!  We also found a great dog park near the house which she loves every Sunday morning. We have to put her with the big dogs, she is pretty rough with the little ones. She’s thinks she rules the place already!

Thanks again for her- she has made our lives much happier!  When I convince Jon I can get another, we’ll defiantly call you guys!

The #1 reason why not to work from home!

Emory

September 14, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Emory!

September 25, 2006 – Emory is doing very well.  The whole family adores him.  He is as sweet as you all said he is.   Thanks so much for enabling us to adopt a great dog!

Whiskey

September 17, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Whiskey!

September 18, 2006 – We enjoyed meeting you today and we all had a memorable day adjusting to the fact that we are a family with a dog.  Marco previously know as Whiskey) traveled very well to our Gwinnett County home, after a stop at PetSmart for some basic necessities.  Marco was well behaved and attracted many compliments while we were in the store.  He seems to be adjusting to the surroundings of his new home.  We gave him his cold pill, and after eating his supper, his brother, Brody (previously known as
Kaluhua) stopped in for a visit.  Then it was non-stop romping in the backyard with Brody for the remainder of the evening until bedtime.  Then, we rubbed the scar on his nose with his salve and off he went to his dog cage and fell asleep in no time.  So, our first
day went very well.  His bathroom habits are off to a good start.  He is eating and drinking water very well.  And we are all enjoying his company.  Thanks for helping us adopt this very sweet dog!

June 7, 2007 – Marco (formerly known as Whiskey) has fully integrated into our family life and is a joy to have.  He is well behaved, fun-loving, lively, and all the other good qualities you can think of.  He frequently gets together with his brother and neighbor, Brody( formerly Kahlua), and they love to play together.  Thanks for asking about Marco.

Newnan

September 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Newnan!

September 18, 2006 – The pup is doing wonderfu!! We have named her Lexi, and she already answers to it. It may have something to do with it ending in an -i….ha ha! Anyway, she is so sweet. I have attached some pictures so that you can see her in her new world…Lexi’s World!!

Thank you and have an awesome day!!!

Elizabeth

September 15, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Elizabeth!

September 18, 2006 – Everything is going very well. We have renamed her Brie and she is already responding to it.  She’s a wonderful little puppy and is getting on pretty well with our cat. Brie wants to play a little rougher than Blink does and puts her back in line when she gets out of hand.  When we first brought her home she walked around like she’s lived here forever. She’s eating well and sleeping well and just loves all the attention. She has been in the car a couple times too and doesn’t seem to mind it at all.  She has really livened up our home and I know we’re all going to be very happy together.  Please pass our thanks on to Jenny for helping us find this little angel.

October 7, 2006 – Thought I would give you another update on Brie (formerly known as Lizzy). She is doing so great. She is very cheeky but so cute. We just love her.   The cat is probably getting a little sick of her by now but he gets his own back. They play constantly and it’s quite exhausting to watch.    She has had her second round of puppy shots and goes back in 3 weeks. We are hoping to start puppy school at the end of the month.   She went for her first official walk on a leash around the neighborhood last night and loved it.  Mike and I want to take her every night now.    I’ve attached a couple photos taken this morning of Brie being very lazy (a rare occurrence)……   Hope you are well.

May 18, 2007 –  Brie (formerly known as Elizabeth) is just wonderful. She has become a really good dog and has added so much life to our family. She is very affectionate and especially loves my husband. She has 2 dog friends next door that she plays with everyday and her favorite activity is going to doggie daycare once a week. She loves to play ‘fetch’ with a tennis ball and to go for walks.  In January we had her spayed at 6 months. Brie is 10 months old now and weighs about 45 pounds. She hasn’t grown into the big lab/golden mix we thought she was going to be but is beautiful and such a good dog with lots of energy. I’ve attached photos of her with our cat. Thanks for your email.

Kahlua

September 14, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Kahlua!

September 16, 2006 –  Brody (formerly known as Kahlua) is the best dog ever.  I cannot tell you how happy we are with
him.  The first night he slept with my 17 year old daughter.  I told her we were not allowing him to sleep in beds at this time.  Since then he has been in his crate at night.  We take him with us where ever dogs are allowed.
My neighbor’s across the street are so impressed with Brody, they would like to meet Whiskey.  See above adoption picture!!!
Anyway, thanks again.

May 17, 2007 – Brody (formerly known as Kahlua) is great. He’s spoiled rotten. Not only with my four children, but every other child that visits our house. In addition, his brother lives across the street and he plays with him on a regular basis. The picture I attached is at Easter. Needless to say, he helped hunt easter eggs too. We are very happy that Keli put us together with Brody. He is the best dog we’ve owned.

Chloe

September 13, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Chloe!

September 14, 2006 –  We have settled on Jordan Michelle Smith as her new name since Chloe was already taken in our family.  Last night she gave a little bark and went to smell her feline brother. He smelled her back and then did the “mad cat” back and meooowweed and ran under a big chair.  She followed him around a little bit and he doesn’t really want to have anything to do with her.  She has been helping us with everything i.e. even typing this note she is right  by the desk.  She is enjoying her new tennis ball and Nylabone.  She ran around in the backyard and burned off some energy last night even after we got home and ate.  This morning she was so funny, we were in the kitchen getting ready and our noisy, freezer-on-the-bottom-of-the-fridge ice maker made a “growling” sound and she jumped up and smelled it and growled back at it.  We are so privileged to have her to share our lives!

December 15, 2006 – My parents Kathy & Tim brought me to see Santa.  It was fun because there were other dogs to play with and as usual I got lots of attention!  Thank you for helping me find my family!

May 18, 2007 – Pictures of her at doggie graduation.  She is doing great and loves to be in the water.

Sally

September 9, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sally!

September 11, 2006 – Hey, things are going exceptionally well.  She is settling, finding her voice, and getting comfortable.  WE just need her to sleep on our son’s bed- it’s too crowded on our! :O)

Thank you for completing our family.

May 17, 2007 – Sally is now MAGGIE!! and we could not adore her more. She has gained about 10 pounds, but still has her beautiful gold eyes and the softest fur around. She fit right in with the family. Our Jack Russell terrier allows her on the bed for a good night snuggle and is comfortable sharing the ball-catching duties with her. We have decided as a family she is the biggest licker we’ve ever known- and not just skin! Maggie will lick your clothes, whatever- she just loves to give kisses! We haven’t taken her swimming yet, the pool is getting opened this weekend,  but we have high hopes for her love of swimming. Our Jack, Max, loves
it and Maggie is usually very happy to follow his lead. We are a bit
concerned because she seems very skittish around the hose, but we have hope. We truly love her. Thank you so much for helping to complete our family.

Updated picture March 14, 2009

Dakota

September 9, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Dakota!

September 21, 2006 – Dakota is doing great.  My family renamed him another “location” name.  We call him Boone, after Boone, NC where we spend a lot of time in the summers. I will have my daughter send some photos.  He and Puddin run and play and then he sits beside me.  He has adjusted to life with us quickly and easily. We love him and Puddin adores him. Thank you for everything and I will send photos.

May 17, 2007 – Boone (formerly known as Dakota) is doing great and loves his sister, Puddin!  He is truly a part of the family and we all love him!  He and puddin wrestle, play chase, and always help me out with the laundry!  Believe me, they both love getting in their crates fro a little R & R!  Thanks for the email, I will send more photos.

July 25, 2008 – Boone is doing great!! He loves his sister Puddin, but always seems ready to climb in his crate at night! I think he is usually quite tired!  We take him to the N.C. mountains in the summer and he loves running all day and hanging out in and around the pond. Lots of children, salamanders and dogs!
He is such a special part of our family and we cannot imagine home without him! Our oldest son is in Navy boot camp this summer and every letter asks about Boone (or as Jack calls him, “Big Cat”, we have no idea why!)  I really think that Boone realized he was gone and seemed a little sad at first, Jack was the one who loves to take the dogs to swim at the Chattahoochee. Hopefully, I attached the photo correctly, if not, I’ll get one of my children to resend.  The dogs, especially Boone, love to sleep in front of the fireplace and Boone often watches the fire.  Thanks for foster mothering Boone, we love him.

Frasia

September 9, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Frasia!

November 11, 2006 – Glad to send a picture, she’s actually much bigger now then she is in the picture, will try to send a more recent one.  And yes, we are completely enthralled with our ‘daughter’.  Since learning the hard way that too much rawhide has the same effect on a dog as too much Halloween candy for a child, we now take away Frasia’s daily rawhide (after a good 45 minutes of chewing).  Well, she quickly caught on and now consistently hides her daily treat, sometimes hiding it so well, she can’t even find it!   Each day she’ll carefully hide her rawhide and then constantly check on its ‘status quo’.  Carefully nudging it with her nose under bed blankets, computer cords, behind shoes in closets, she re-hides her rawhide multiple times a day in hopes that she has us fooled- which she often does.

Raider

September 9, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Raider!

September 14, 2006 – He is doing sooooo well.  He has fit right in.  I was planning on emailing you a pic this week.  Of course, he is sleeping on the bed (with me!!) but the whole family has already bonded w/ him.  He loves to ride with Rob in the truck and his favorite thing to do is play fetch.  We are working on teaching him to heal and stay but his is a great “giver,” especially his slimy tennis balls.  We are so happy!   Thanks again for thinking about us when he came in.

October 3, 2006 – Sorry about the delay but wanted to give you an update on our big boy Raider!  As I said, he came right in and made himself a part of our family.  After a month, he is so well behaved, except for the occasional drooling during our dinner.  He has not had one accident (fingers crossed) and is not a chewer.  We have not had to crate him at all, even when we are all away.  Since Rob works nights, I really worried that Raider would keep him up all day but evidently, he is happy as long as he is in the same vicinity as the rest of us.  I think I told you, he likes to sleep on y bed and recently moved himself up to the pillows.  A habit I am trying to discourage.  Both kids love him!  He watches every move that Eric makes is right there along side him.  He loves riding in the truck, and (Rob will deny this) but the boys make special outings just to take Raider for a ride.  Must be a man thing!  Anyway, we are so happy and thankful for the opportunity to adopt Raider.  We could not feel more fortunate.

May 17, 2007 – Sorry we have written lately.   Spring is a busy time of year!!  Raider is doing great.  He has become a true dog of leisure, spending his days laying in the shade watching us do yardwork. He is good to stay right where we are in the front yard and has only “followed his nose” out of our yard once or twice but comes back when called.  Other than that, he is usually sitting right where we need to be digging.  Although he hates a bath, we cannot wait to get him to the lake to swim.  (We had trouble keeping him out of the pool last fall.)Â Most of all, he is a great companion for Eric and listens (and loves all over him).  Thanks again for bringing him into our life, he is a perfect match!!  I will be sure to send updated pictures when I can. We may be looking for a brother or sister for Raider soon. Trying to talk Dad into it!!  Thanks again.

July 25, 2008 – Raider is right next to me, trying to nudge my arm away from the keyboard for some needed affection.  Of course, Raider waltzed right into our home like he had always been a Morgan!  He is a housedog and truly wants to be wherever we are.  He has gotten a little lazy (like the rest of us) but still loves to play fetch.  Rides in the truck are still a favorite pastime, except he wants to bark at bike riders.  Rob and Eric almost had an incident where they were riding past a bicyclist and Raider barked his deep, loud bark and the biker almost ran off the road.  But we all know Raider is all bark and no bite and certainly never ferocious, just loud!   He just wants everyone to know he is there.  I guess my only complaint is that Raider is a heavy sleeper and bed hog!   Most mornings, after Rob leaves, I wake up with a draft and there’s Raider, dead to the world, laying on the covers!  As much as he is the kids dog, he is my shadow, following me everywhere.  He is even content to lounge on the deck in the evenings if I have time to read.  Other than that, he is perfect!  Not one accident or chew incident.  He will help himself to food left on the counter, not much of a stretch for such a big fellow like him.
Everyone that sees him comments on what a beautiful and big lab he is (exactly what I wanted!).  A neighbor’s father who breeds labs has said he is the perfect specimen.  We are sooo happy, Raider is a treasured and much loved member of our family.  We are eternally greatful and definitely come back to you guys the next time we expand the Morgan clan!! Thanks again,

Porsche

September 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Porsche!

September 6, 2006 – I just thought that I would drop you a quick note.  The introduction to the cats went really well last night.  Porsche was curious about them, but ultimately didn’t care that they were in the house.  The cats are a little bit freaked out, but they are keeping their distance.  Our one cat, Sigma, sniffed her up and down and decided that she was good entertainment and has been watching her from about 4 feet away.  Our other cat, Marco, is still keeping pretty far away, but has had no aggression towards her (He is the one with the claw-caps and the attitude issue).  I think they will all get along just fine.  Yeah!!! Porsche seemed a little lonely last night, but was happy to play and cuddle.  She fell asleep on the floor at about 11:00 and we had her go out and then to her crate.  She cried for about 15 min and then was fast asleep until about 5:00.  We had 2 little accidents, but she seems like she knows where to go, we just didn’t catch it in time.  We are so happy to have adopted her!  We know she will be a wonderful, loving member of our family… even if she is a princess.

September 13, 2006 – Things are going really well here.  Porsche is doing great.  The cats are adjusting.  They come closer and closer to each other each day, but I think they will ultimately give each other their own space.  She has taken to her crate really well.  Its not her favorite place, but she doesn’t mind it too much.  She even goes in on her own sometimes.  She loves to play fetch and LOVES her nylabones.  We are going to enroll her in puppy classes soon so that she can learn some manners.  We have so much fun with her though!  🙂

September 4, 2007 – Hi, sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you.  We have been very busy having a baby  🙂   Porsche is doing great.  She is full of energy and personality.  She has grown out of her puppy chewing phase and has graduated out of her crate.  She still likes to sleep in it sometimes, but really she likes to sleep at the foot of the bed.  Some of her favorites are Frosty Paws ice cream and rawhide chewsticks (which she carries around in her mouth like a cigar).  She goes to daycare 2-3 times a week and has lots of friends there.  She also gets some really good exercise playing with the other dogs.  She is very friendly and gets along with all of the people and the other puppies at day care.  She is even starting to warm up to our cats.

We have been so happy to add Porsche to our family and can’t imagine life without her. Thank you for all of the good work that you do rescuing doggies.

July 27, 2008 – Porsche has been wonderful.  She is sweet and silly and full of energy.  My favorite feature is her silky black coat.  We finished fencing our backyard and she loves going out there to play.  She is so good with our son Alex, who is 11 months old.  They are the best of friends.  She protects him from the cats and he has learned how to pet her gently.  She is slightly spoiled and gets to play at daycare 1-2 times a week, loves chewsticks, has her own Facebook/dogbook page, and sleeps in the bed with us.  My sister recently moved to Atlanta and Porsche and Indie (their dog) run pell mell through the back yard.  I have attached a few pictures.  I can’t say thank you enough for rescuing Porsche so that we could adopt her.  She is certainly a part of our family and we love her tons!

Laney

September 2, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Laney!

September 8, 2006 – Laney is doing just fine.  She is really starting to make herself at home.  She has been sleeping in our bed since day one and just loving it!  She is very affectionate and passive when corrected.  “Down Laney” has become a frequent word around our house! I took her to Butler Creek vets this past week.  They said she looks good.  He wants her to gain about 8 more pounds.  As I write she is sleeping in the foyer by me.  The bonding has begun.

Jazzy

September 1, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Jazzy!

September 5, 2006 – Jazzy is a wonderful dog! We are so in love with her…she is fun, sweet, playful, and very loving. She plays hard and sleeps hard. She has never even had a potty accident (I take her out at least every 2-3 hours and once during the night around 4 AM). We are so happy and fortunate to have her in our family!

September 23, 2006 – Pictures of Jazzy and Nicole from 9/23/06. At the vet’s office on Friday she was only 14.1 lbs. The vet thinks she is younger than originally predicted…making her around 13 weeks now. Also, she seems to be growing at more of a small/middle size dog rate…a miniature lab (I’m very excited about this too). She has her second round of shots and is very healthy! We just love her to pieces!

December 3, 2006 – Jazzy is doing great! As you know, she was with Jen Dean over thanksgiving. Jen’s training is very effective and Jazzy is well on her way to having excellent “manners”. Thank you so much for recommending Jen! She is fabulous!

May 17, 2007 – Jazzy is doing great! She is almost a year old and looks like a chocolate beagle. She is about 35 pounds, has beautiful eyes, and a wonderful loving personality! All the kids love her and she loves them. Her favorite activities are to go for a walk/run and cuddle with me on the sofa.

Thanks for staying in touch! I’m very thankful for the LFS organization!

Avery

August 25, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Avery!

August 26, 2006 – Avery (now Callie) is doing wonderfully!  She took to her new home just fine…loves the baby (Stella-age 1 yr.) and has no problem with the cats.  They’re not quite sure about her, but she just ignores them!  She’s upstairs with me now, sitting at my feet.  She slept either beside me or Brian on the floor, though she showed quite an interest in the bed!  She will be allowed up there in time, but the kitties sleep there and I wanted to wait on her getting up until they are really used to her.   We are so thankful for her and of course, love her.  She is and will be a great addition to our lives.  Thank you so much.

September 7, 2006 – Regarding Miss Avery, she continues to improve and is such a good girl.  She is completely house broken, nothing negative in any way.  She has a great appetite now too!  We play fetch every afternoon, and she is great.  She is everything we wished for.  Thank you.

May 18, 2007 – Callie is sitting at my feet as I write! She is
doing just perfectly…We love her, the cats love her, Adi (our
Jack Russell terrier) loves her, but most importantly she and
our grandbaby are inseperable! Callie always has to put her
down for naps or bedtime whenever she’s here! They are
precious together. We know we are very lucky to have her and are so grateful for all of your hard work. Thanks for checking in. Will send an updated picture soon.

Gracie

August 19, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Gracie!

And her new sister, Sam!

Amelia

August 19, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Amelia!

November 27, 2006 – Hey, sorry for the late response.  Amelia is doing great, she loves her new home.  We actually changed her named to Riley so that’s what she responds to now.  She is all up to date with her shots and she actually just got spayed about two weeks ago.  She has a great personality and loves to play with all of my roommates.  She especially loves to run around with my sister’s dog a boxer.  The two of them just play all day long.  I currently don’t have any pictures of her yet, but as soon as I get some I will be sure to send them to you.  Thanks Again!!!

January 30, 2007 – Her new name is actually Riley now and she is the sweetest thing in the world.  I couldn’t be happier with my adoption.    Also, I am sending you guys a few pictures of her just to show how cute of dog she is turning out to be.  Thanks again for your time.

Charlie

August 19, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Charlie!

August 26, 2006 – Sorry it has taken me so long to give you an update on Charlie, but it has been a very busy week!  He had a great first night. He slept on the bed with us (we tried the crate for about 5 seconds, but he started to cry!) and made it through the night no problem. We went to the vet first thing Tuesday morning for his shots and a check up. He did great! He was very calm and cooperative. We have spent most of the week at home, trying to help him adjust to his new surroundings. He has only had a few accidents, but we take potty breaks about every 45 minutes or so. He hasn’t had any accidents in his crate, which is great. He is getting used to the boys. He is definitely a nipper, but we are working very hard at stopping. He is pretty good about only chewing his toys, but the noise maker (coffee can with some change) works great to help him stay away from the things he isn’t supposed to chew. We took him to the lake yesterday for the first time and he had a blast! He is a great swimmer and he really enjoyed the water and the sand. Talk about one tired guy! He was a noodle when we got him home. I’ll send you some pictures soon.

All in all Charlie is a GREAT DOG! We feel very lucky to have found him and wanted to thank you for taking such good care of him. He is definitely going to be a very important member of our family. He has his first play date with 2 little golden retrievers tomorrow morning, so I’ll let you know how it goes.  I know he misses all his friends!

September 19, 2006 – Charlie is doing great. He is still nipping a lot, but we are working on it. I think having the kids around makes it harder because they are always sticking their fingers in his mouth and running around the yard with him. He is really a smart dog. We are going to puppy classes at Pet Smart and he is picking up all the new commands very quickly. We have been taking lots of hikes with him which he really enjoys. He is 99% potty trained, and doing well with the crate. We love him very much! Thanks again for helping take care of him until we found him. I will keep you updated.  Oh, by the way, he already weighs 28 lbs! He has gained 7 lbs. in 3 weeks, so I think he is going to be a big boy!!

July 27, 2008 – Charlie is great. He is a big ole lazy guy who likes to keep cool and chew on bones. We like to refer to him as our “green dog” because he conserves energy better than anyone we know! He has a sister named Little Girl who is as crazy as ever, so it is a nice balance. Thanks for checking!

Scooby

August 19, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Scooby!

August 21, 2006 –

Just wanted to you an update on Scooby. First we renamed him Dylan – he doesn’t seem to mind and is already getting used to his new name. He had a great first night in his new home – walked right in and threw himself down like he owned the place, totally at ease. We started working on new commands and he’s already getting the hang of “Down” without any treats. Today we had our first adventure at the Dog Park at Piedmont Park. Dylan quickly made friends with every person and dog in the place and had a blast! He’s now sound asleep on the floor. Thanks for such a wonderful addition to our family!

Latest family photo – taken February 2, 2008.  “Don’t I just get more and more handsome every day?!”

Logan

August 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Logan!

August 21, 2006 – Thank you so much for helping our family adopt Logan this past weekend.  We are settling in now with him and have fallen in love with him.  He also acts as if he has been with us since he was a puppy.

May 29, 2007 – Thanks for checking in with us. Jax (formerly known as Logan) has become a truly loved member of our family. He is the most loving dog, and we are really enjoying him. He especially enjoys our visits to our cabin in North Carolina where he can take long walks through the woods and swim in the creeks. In August, it will be a year since we adopted him but it feels like he has always been a member of our family. Thanks again for checking in with us and for the wonderful work that your group does. We have attached a picture.

Doolie

August 19, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Doolie!

August 21, 2006 – He is, and thank you again.  Our 4 yr. old Choc. Lab, Kodo is still jealous but they have been playing tug-of-war and are getting used to each other.  Doolie never tries to run away he always wants to stay right by us.  He is such a good boy and a perfect addition to our family.  He even slept all night last night, we were so proud.

November 11, 2006 – We could not have picked out a better puppy to fit right into our lives.  Our 4yr. old lab and Oji (formerly known as Doolie) are best friends.  It was easier to raise Oji having a big brother show him the ropes.  Thank you for rescuing Labs and we look forward to getting all our dogs from you guys in the future.

January 25, 2007 – Oji is 7 months old and 60 lbs.   He is almost exactly the same height as our 4 year old lab.  We hope he even grows a little taller.  He is very cute and has the smallest little underbite that makes his bottom lip poke out just a little bit  He listens so well and everyone is impressed with how good he is.  He still hasn’t chewed up anything other than his toys and 1 bed.  Not too bad.  He loves to run out on the land and chase after the ball.  His favorite thing to do is bring huge tree limps back up on the deck for chewing, and one is never enough.  After a hard day of playing our deck is a 1/2 in deep n bark.  We just laugh.  It’s great to see him bringing up limbs that are easily 4 -5 times his size.  He always brings a smile to our faces.  We love him so much.

Russell

August 17, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Russell!

August 21, 2006 – Russell so loves my daughter.  It truly is amazing every place we go and every one who comes here says you got to keep that dog he adores your daughter.  He grabs her pants like the Coppertone commercial.  And she drags him behind her.  Too cute.  He will fetch with her now and sit and shake.  He is a great dog and he is hers no doubt.  Always at her feet or by her side !!!  Again thanks Jenny !!!

Lady

August 12, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Lady!

January 6, 2007 – Sorry for the delay in getting updated pictures of Sophie. We have a lot of pictures but we wanted a cute one with her new”brother ” Jezmond. Here are most recent pictures. My husband thinks she has put on approximately 15-18 pounds. We will have her weighed soon. She is so happy and not a day goes by that we don’t talk about what a wonderful experience it is rescue a dog. Enjoy our precious Sophie and Jez and Happy New Year!

July 28, 2008 – So nice to hear from you.  Sophie is amazing. We had been told that rescue dogs often are so grateful to the “rescuers.” We don’t know if this is the reason or she is just a loving dog, but she has been the sweetest, gentlest, cuddliest dog we have ever seen! She adores her human AND canine family. We are so grateful to Lab Friends. I’ll try to get together some current photos to send you. She is gorgeous!

Thanks for being in touch. I tell so many folks about Lab Friends of the South!!

Maddie

August 12, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Maddie!

August 13, 2006 – Maddie is doing great! She’s so sweet! We’re just hanging around the house right now, waiting to hear from the AC people. Then we’ll be off to get her a cage and some toys. We have some wash clothes in the freezer for her later.  She has a good disposition & is quiet. We’re all very happy!

Thank you so much for Maddie and all the work you do!

Diamond

August 11, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Diamond!

August 12, 2006 – I just wanted you to know how great Diamond did last night.  She played outside and in the house, used the bathroom outside many times.  She is great with the kids and is getting lots of energy out.  She is so sweet and smart.  We didn’t hear a peep from her all night until 6:00 a.m. She is doing great.

Thanks so much – we love her.

August 18, 2006 – Charlie and I wanted to let you know that Diamond is doing great and fitting in with our family.  She is doing super with the kids, learning to walk on her leash and she loves running after the ball.  She is so smart and so sweet with all of us.  We feel like she was meant to be in our family.  Thanks so much for all you and your organization does.

Lancelot

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Lancelot!

August 30, 2006 – Lancelot (now known as Hunter) is doing great. He has brought so much joy in our life! He is almost housebroken, crate trained and knows how to sit, lay down and shake! He is slowly learning to walk on a leash (he’s not a big fan, he’d rather chew it!) and we are about to start puppy class in a few weeks. We are so glad that Hunter is a part of our lives. Attached are a few pictures of him! His favorite place to sleep is right on top of  the air vent. Thanks for everything!

December 2, 2006 – Hunter, previously known as Lancelot, is doing great.  He’s getting really big!  He weighs over 50 pounds already.  We love having him around.  He’s a lot of fun!  He has 2 more weeks of puppy class before he graduates!  He’s doing great and really enjoys going.

June 25, 2007 – Sorry it took us so long to give you an update. Hunter is doing great! He has grown considerably from the little 8 pound puppy we adopted almost a year ago! Right now he’s about 85 pounds and has a little bit more room to grow according to the vet! He’s the sweetest dog and is very easy going. He loves to ride in the car, especially when we are headed to the river! He’s definitely a water dog! He could splash around for hours if we let him! He loves his morning belly rubs which he is sure to jump into bed every day to get! We love having him around and are so glad we adopted him. He makes a great companion an d is a great addition to the family! Thanks so much for a great dog! We couldn’t have asked for a better one! I’ve attached some recent pictures of him.

Gypsy

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Gypsy!

September 13, 2006 – We wanted to let you know how much we love Lucy.  Her name was Gypsy when we got her, but her new sister’s name is Gigi and it was a bit confusing.  She’s adapting very well, but did live up to her new name for the first several weeks when we would find ourselves saying “Lucy, you got some ‘splaining to do!”

We attached a few pics of Lucy, her sister Gigi and her brother Dutch.  We adopted Gigi from “Adopt a Golden” about a month before Lucy, and they are getting along great.  They love to play and wrestle with each other.  Dutch is her older brother, about 15yrs old, and he seems to be getting younger and a bit sassier with the younger sisters around.

Lucy has been attending training with Susie Aga, Atlanta Dog Trainer, and doing very well.  She might even go on to intermediate class and try some agility.  Who knows?  She graduates this Sunday – Congratulations Lucy!

We hope other families will find as much fun and companionship as we do with the other labbies up for adoption.  Thank you all for all you do, and thanks for bringing Lucy into our lives.

May 16, 2007 – Lucy is great.  She is a very smart, energetic, and loving dog.   When she first came into our “pack” everyone had to make a few adjustments, but since then, we’ve all adapted well.  We took Lucy to Suzie Aga’s training (Dog Trainer Atlanta) and she did great.   Between her and her “sister” Gigi, who we adopted at about the same time as Lucy, they have made our older (15 year-old) dog Dutch a younger man!  All three provide a lot of entertainment every day with their wrestling matches.  Thanks to everyone at Labrador Friends of the South for our family member.  Attached are a couple of pictures of Lucy and Gigi.

July 26, 2008 – Recent family photo!

Midnight

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Midnight!

August 21, 2006 – Thanks Jenny!  Tommy told me he talked with you this morning.  I think he is finally getting used to our routine (I knew it would take at least a couple of weeks!).  We just took him to the vet to get his anal glands cleansed- he smelled really bad and kept trying to bite his tail.  We have already noticed him not licking as much.

Like Tommy said, the only thing we are really trying to work on him with is his biting and also jumping up on the couch.  He has gotten really used to his crate and we do not have to bribe him with treats anymore to get in there.  Spooky and him play really well together but of course Spooky gets annoyed sometime because Shadow has so much energy!!!  He has had a few accidents in the house (last night was most recent) but we are working on that and hopefully that will end soon but he drinks sooooo much water!!!

Other than that he is awesome and we love having him around; it is really good for Spooky too.  Shadow is so cuddly- he loves to sleep next to Spooky or be next to either Tommy or I.  We take him jogging three times a week and he seems to really enjoy it- plus it burns off some of his energy.  We have yet to take him swimming but we are thinking this weekend.  I have some pictures of him and Spooky together- I will email those soon!!

Ralph

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Ralph!

August 29, 2006 – Ralph, now known as Woody, is doing great.  He is such a sweet dog and was well trained by someone, he has been easy and loves his sisters.   He goes 100 mph and then sleeps, and he loves to pester our other 2 dogs. He comes to work everyday with us, but does ok in the crate when he has to be there.   He certainly prefers to be with all of us and not out by himself, but he is getting better at playing in the back yard.  I am curious if you have any background info on him.  I have attached photos and hope you can see them. We are soooooo lucky to have him !

July 29, 2008 – Woody is doing great!  He’s finally learning to swim and not very good at it!  I thought he would be a natural!   Above is our new family photo. From left to right is Bandit, Kissy, Woody and Jackson.  Kissy and Jackson were fosters so as you can tell we are foster flunkies!  We got Jackson and he and Woody became fast friends so he is part of the family.   Thanks for checking in!

Dylan

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Dylan!

August 8, 2006 – We decided to rename Dylan to Marty.  Since he is a puppy and not even used to a name.   He is doing so well.  He is getting used to his new home.  He has a pillow to nap on and an adjustable crate to sleep in at night.  He is still crying at night but we gave him a stuffed puppy to keep him company.  He is really learning to go outside.  He has had only two accidents inside.  He really loves his treats when he does well and goes outside.  He is also learning to use his chew toys that we bought him and he also loves to chew on empty plastic water bottles.  He is signed up for obedience classes at the end of August.  He is the perfect addition to our family and he is being such a good boy.

We are so glad we came to you for our dog.  Will keep you updated later.

May 15, 2007 – Marty (formerly known as Dylan) is doing great!  He is getting so big.  We still have a couple of training issues, but he is a great dog.  We fixed him but I still need to get you guys the paperwork.  He is happy and healthy.  I’m sending a pic I took while writing this letter.

Take care and good luck adopting out more dogs.  I tell people about you all the time.

Duchess

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Duchess!

November 29, 2006 –

Our dog Mia (formerly known as Duchess) is doing great. She is 5.5 months, 32 lbs and is a perfect puppy. She was house trained very quickly. She loves to play and is a great friend of the entire family! Attached is a recent picture.

May 19, 2007 – Mia (formerly known as Duchess) is doing great. She will be one year old on June 10th. She is very athletic and gets to enjoy our backyard a lot.

Dolly

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Dolly!

September 28, 2006 – Dolly is absolutely wonderful!  Once again, I have “failed” at fostering.  But with three girls in the family, there is always somebody who is willing to play.  She is such an incredible dog; it’s hard to believe that somebody could just drop her off at a shelter.  She was already crate-trained, has never had an accident in the house, walks on a leash like an angel, and is extremely gentle around children.  It’s as if she knows that I saved her and she is eternally grateful for it.  RESCUE DOGS RULE!!!!

Connor and Muffin

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Connor and Muffin!

September 8, 2006 – Conner and Madison (formerly known as Muffin) are doing great.  They both have gained about 5-10 LB’s.  Conner is doing very well with house training and other commands.  Madison has finally been growing out of her biting stage and has become a very lovable dog.  Both of them play together all the time and seem to have become best of friends.  Madison is probably 90% house trained and is slowly learning other stuff.  They love to visit the other neighborhood dogs and seem to play very well with them.  We still have to take them out on leaches when we go outside.  I have been working with Conner to get him off the leach but he still drifts off.  Conner has become quite the jumper and can leap over any gate you put up for him.  We leave them in our kitchen/dining area if we leave for over a couple hours so they aren’t caged up for very long.  We tried using baby gates to keep them contained, but Conner learned very quickly that he can leap over them.  I’ll will try to get some resent pictures and send them over when I get a chance.

Cocoa

August 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Cocoa!

May 20, 2007 – Thanks for the email. Cocoa’s doing well. She’s exceptionally mellow and takes almost anything that happens in stride. She likes car rides, even fairly long ones–I took her to SC with me recently. She also likes to go on walks, and I’ve taken her over to Lake Lanier and to Elatchee. A friend thinks she might be Lab/Norwegian elkhound because of her head, shoulders, and tail. Despite her Labrador ancestry, she’s not overly fond of rain, water, or even wet grass. She usually stays inside, unless I’m outside in the yard working.

September 4, 2007 – Here’s a one-year (actually 13-month) update on Cocoa’s progress.  She has done well in the past year.  Her weight has been stable and her only health problem a hotspot on her right front leg.  Her teeth have also been cleaned.  She’s very calm and just likes to be wherever I am.  She still doesn’t spend much time in the back yard, unless I’m also there.  Everything else is going well.

Sheba

August 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sheba!

September 5, 2006 – We’ve changed the puppy’s name to Echo.  She has been an amazing pet and we couldn’t have asked for a better addition to our family!  She loves running and playing with our older dog, Dusty, even when Dusty isn’t in the mood!  Echo just loves everyone.  She has a favorite chew toy and a baby pool that she loves swimming in.  She is so smart that she is almost housebroken.  I’ve attached a picture of Echo and Drew, my son, who is her owner.
Thanks for following up with us!

May 21, 2007 – Echo (formerly known as Sheba) is doing great. She is so cute and loves to have people around all the time. She plays with our other dog Dusty, and always begs for food. She is so wonderful, we wish we had 10 Echos!!

Sammie

July 30, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sammie!

May 15, 2007 – Elaine and I are very happy with our Sammie.  Bella and her love each other very, very much. She is so active that she went from 86 pounds to 60 lbs since she has joined the family. I walk them both every day at least 1 mile. She would rather chase tennis balls and swim than eat. She is a great pup and we are very proud to call her our daughter. Last weekend we took them to a training class that will allow them both to visit Seniors homes, hospitals and schools, etc, to do volunteer work. One more class and we will be ready to go! Please wish us luck.

July 25, 2008 – Sammie is doing great and Bella, my yellow Labrador, and I just walked in the door from Windermere Dog Park. They love each other very much and we are all part of our family pack. When we got Sammie from LFS she weighed in at a whopping 80 lbs and had noticeable Jowls. After Bella taught her how to swim and chase tennis balls, she now weighs in at an athletically toned 60 lbs. We take them both to our cabin in Ellijay often where they have 315 ft. of Coosawattee River frontage to splash and play. I also have a 1/2 acre fenced backyard for them in Cumming  to romp in, when they want to go outside. She is definitely my tom girl and was a fantastic addition to the family. I  I proudly call her my daughter and I truly can’t understand how anyone would not want to have a pet. They keep you young, help you get exercise and are your best unconditional friends you will ever know. We LOVE HER so very much. I have attached a video that illustrates my feelings for ALL OF MY LABS that I have had the the OPPORTUNITY to love; it only gets BETTER WITH TIME TOGETHER!!!!

Erica

July 29, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Erica!

July 31, 2006 – Roxy (formerly known as Erica) is doing great!  Except for her lil issue, but not a big deal, we will get her all fixed up and she will be fine.  She is a sweetheart, just a perfect lil pup.  I have some pictures I am going to send you.  They are darling, hope you enjoy them.

I really need some more toys!!!

December 26, 2006 – We would like to say thank you for the wonderful gift we received this year, our beautiful Roxy (Erika).  You bring so much love and happiness to so many pooches and brighten so many lives, may each of you find a special happiness in the New Year ahead.

May 15, 2007 – Roxy is doing fantastic! She is now 55lbs and such a sweet girl.  Loves to play outside , take walks and enjoys laying on the deck in the sun!  She is quite the lil hunter!  She will be taking her first trip to the beach this summer. So that will be a lot of fun.   Roxy is very affectionate and loving.  She is quite a family oriented dog.  A wonderful quality.  She has turned into the spoiled lil princess around here. Well deserved!!!  I have a lot of pictures and will be so happy to share some.   Thanks for asking about my sweet girl.  We love her soooooooooooo much!

Minnie 2

July 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Minnie!

August 8, 2006 – Maggie (formerly known as Minnie 2) is doing great.  No accidents.  Our Mini and Maggie are learning to coexist right now.  Mini is doing better than we ever thought.  Maggie spends a lot of time pacing around the house; we are not sure why?  We went for several short walks and played in the back yard.  Maggie has showed a little interest in playing with a ball, hopefully she will catch on soon.  Maggie is doing great!  She is settling in more and more every day.  Maggie is a very loving girl.  Mini puts up with Maggie and is starting to show signs that she likes Maggie.

May 17, 2007 – We keep saying we are going to bring Maggie back up to the Pet Basket on the adoption days, but always have other things to do.  Maggie is doing great, no one would even recognize her.  She weighed 39 lbs when we got her in July and she has filled out to about 50 lbs now.  We have taken her to Jabula Dog Academy for dog obedience.  She is a little dominant but so smart.  She does have a sense of humor and does not have any interest in fetching a ball or catching a Frisbee.  She loves to run, walk or go for a ride.  She does have some behavior issues we are still working on but she was younger than what everyone predicted.  She has changed so much since that first day, everyday she is becoming more sweet and loving.  Even Mini (the dachshund) is accepting of her. Thanks for asking.

Sierra

July 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sierra!

August 11, 2006 – Sierra, now Molly (sorry, Sharon!), is doing great! She and Murphy love to play together; he follows her around constantly, wanting to wrestle or play tug-of-war.  She is already losing some of that extra weight 🙂  Molly has also claimed her spot at the bottom of the bed….know where we can get a king-sized bed at a good price?!  She is a complete lovebug and we are so lucky to have found her!  Thanks to Lab Friends for all you do!!

Eby

July 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Eby!

July 28, 2006 – We’re so grateful that y’all do the great things you do!  Miss Ebby (yes, she’s picked up another ‘b’) has settled in just beautifully.  She and Bert are playing like puppies.  It took her a couple of days to get used to our routine (such as it is) and the new noises of the house.  But she’s relaxed and happy – even getting along well with the cats, R2D2 and Jewels.  She wasn’t too sure about getting up on the furniture or the bed at first, but now she takes it as her right, as we think she should.  She’s got to have the softest mouth of any dog we’ve know – just as gentle as a feather!    Ebby and Bert are still doing the “dominance dance” but very playfully.  They’re sorting it all out nicely.  We’ve got her signed up with our vet and they’ll both be going up for grooming in about a week.  And we’re going to be checking out obedience training for both Ebby and Bert.  Again, please thank all your staff and volunteers for the great job they do!

May 15, 2007 – Ebby is doing just great!  It took her a couple of weeks to get over being shy, but now she’s right in the midst of us – 2 dogs, 2 cats & 2 humans.  She still doesn’t have any use for a ball or a Frisbee, but we got her a little stuffed fleece “gingerbread man” that she carries everywhere.  It’s her baby and she’s very attentive to it.  We’ve had to work on breaking her of her taste for chipmunks, but an ultrasonic trainer was just the ticket – and she responded very quickly.  Actually, it’s been good for Bert, too.  He listens better now with a little reinforcement under his belt.   All’s well, and we’re all happy to see better weather arrive (the cats, too, though they just observe it through the windows).  Thanks for your concern and for all the good work you do!

July 25, 2008 – How nice to hear from you.  Yes, Ebby is a full-fledged member of the Kenyon family!  It took awhile – she was very shy and uncertain at first.  She didn’t seem to know what on earth she was supposed to do with a toy.  Now she challenges Bert every so often when he pulls out one of his tennis balls (he goes to the toy box and gets out whatever he’s interested in).  Ebby has two fuzzy dolls that we call her “babies” and she carries them around proudly. She seemed baffled at first when we invited her onto the bed.  Now, she’s often the first one there at bedtime, barking for us to come on in and dogpile!  She loves getting her daily puppy-love in the form of brushing and ear- and tummy- rubbing.  Best of all, she and Bert are best pals, romping and playing in the big back yard and all through the house.   We’re so happy you found her for us.  Blessings on you and all the good work you do!

Chevy

July 16, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Chevy!

August 27, 2006 – Things are going well with Chevy. We did however change his name to Murphy.  Murphy and Charley are getting along very well. They are inseparable. Murphy follows Charley everywhere and Charley feels very motherly towards Murphy. Murphy has his little teddy that he sleeps with. He sleeps under the bed for now, but I think that won’t be for long. He is completely crate trained now and has almost no accidents in the house. He has started to ask when he needs to go out side. He is really happy here and we are al enjoying him tremendously.

Tinker

July 15, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Tinker!

August 12, 2006 – Elle (formerly known as Tinker) is doing great, she loves her new home hear in the mountains.  She spends a lot of time outside with us, wandering through the woods and watching the deer.  She is getting along great with Stella (our 1 year old daughter), but the cats are still not sure about her yet.  She is a great dog, and loved very much.

Samson

July 14, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Samson!

September 4, 2006 – Sorry I have not been in touch, things are awesome and Samson loves his big sister.  Here is a picture.  Thanks again for everything.

Cash

July 10, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Cash!

July 12, 2006 – We absolutely LOVE Cash (Cooper)  He is already learning a lot of things in 2 days!  He is doing great at night and amazingly sweet and smart – thanks for letting me have this precious little boy!

This is our buddy Cooper, snoozing with his pet pony, he is just the cutest little guy.  He has a smaller crate upstairs for night-time and a cozy bigger one for when he needs down time downstairs, so that he can be close to us.  Of course we have had many accidents as he is SUPER SNEAKY and QUICK!  But, that just comes with the territory.  He is doing well with the kids, and is learning quickly.  We have taken him to the lake for a swim and wore him out!!  He loved it!  I would love to have 10 more if my husband would let me!  Maybe later!!!!

Thanks again!  We really DO love him a lot – he is a special dog.

July 26, 2008 – The kids and I absolutely love Cooper – he has many nicknames, expressions and personalities (as you may be able to see from the picture!).  He never got to be a full sized lab, he is more the size of a beagle that weighs as much as a lab!!  BUT, we love him a ton anyway and it was actually a blessing to have a shorter dog in the house – we already have a zoo here and he is fitting in nicely!  WE have had Cooper 2 years now and we look forward to many more interesting times with this quirky little guy!

Oakley – 100th dog adopted!

July 8, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Oakley!

Cami

July 8, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Cami!

July 17, 2006 – Please find attached some updated photos of Cami whose new name is  “Sadie” and her new best friend Charlie.  She is
doing very well.  She is a bit of a psycho right now
going through everything she can get her mouth on.  We
will send you more later.

Onyx

July 8, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Onyx!

July 11, 2006 – Hi! i just wanted to update you on Onyx’s last few days… We are soooooooooooooooo lucky to have him. He is a gem. Well behaved, no potty accidents, and sleeps on his bed on the floor next to me every night so far. Our cat’s verdict is still out, but they are slowly becoming acquainted. 🙂

With the 5 of us, there has been no shortage of ball throwing, and he is fine on a leash. We are truly the lucky ones in this adoption.  Best of luck with other dogs and puppies.
May 11, 2007 – Onyx is fine, he just had his yearly rabies shot. He weighs 61 pounds.  He is very clever, but silly at the same time…:)   He worships ball chasing, gets picked on by our cat, and is very happy. I will get an updated picture for you this weekend, must plug my camera in 🙂  Thanks for checking!

Bentley

July 8, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bentley!

July 23, 2006 – Life with Bentley is Great!!  From the first day he moved in he’s been nothing but a joy!!  He was already crate trained (that was cool) and fairly housebroken – we’ve spent the last two weeks getting acclimated to new surroundings and schedules.  We made a recent vet trip – for booster shots, micro-chipping, and check-up (received a clean bill of health) and found out that he is growing quite well (the vet seems to think he’ll make 90-100 lbs. without much trouble!!)  We couldn’t be happier with the new addition to the family – he loves to play and puts a smile on my face every time I walk in the door (greets me with wagging and kisses).  Please enjoy the enclosed photos!  Thanks again for approving me for adoption – I’m telling everyone I know about y’all and what a great operation you have.

Lexis

July 8, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Lexis!

Milton

July 8, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Milton!

August 16, 2006 –  Milton (now called Sammy) is doing great.  He has been such a joy.  Our kids love playing with him and taking
care of him (especially giving him baths).  He has
been on lots of hikes with us and even a road trip to
Chicago.  We all agreed that he won “best behaved” in
the car.  We feel very fortunate to have Sammy as part
of our family.

Dino

July 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Dino!

August 14, 2006 – I wanted to let you know that Dino is settling in very well at our house.  He is such a great puppy!  He has doubled in size, and has a voracious appetite.  He is doing fantastic with housetraining, loves to chew on everything, but will always trade in what he has grabbed for a chew toy.  He is great with all of my kids.  They have already taught him to sit, lie down, and roll over.  He’ll practically stand on his head for a treat!  We could not have asked for a better fit for our family.  I will send pictures soon, via snail mail, as I am still in the Stone Ages, using an old 35mm camera to record all of his antics.  Thanks again for introducing us to such a gem.

May 11, 2007 – He is doing so great!  He is out right now, on his daily walk to school and back.  He’s sweet, and smart, and so very funny.  There is a Bassett Hound somewhere in his genes, because he looks like a Lab from the shoulders up, but he has these hilarious stubby legs that are knock-kneed.  He is willing to go anywhere or do anything, but he also likes to curl up by your feet and just chill out.  Really, he has been the perfect dog for our family.  My kids are already planning his 1 year birthday party!   Thanks for checking on us.  I will send you a picture soon; I just took some great ones of him with my kids.

May 29, 2008 – Here are some recent pictures of Cash (formerly known as Dino).  He is swimming at a lake near our house, and taking a hike with us at Ruby Falls.  He carries his water and bowl like a real trooper!

July 25, 2008 – Cash is doing great!  He is a fabulous addition to our family.  He’s very silly and smart, and he loves everyone, canine and human alike.  I sent some updated photos a couple of months ago, and will send more soon.  Thanks for checking in!

Austin

July 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Austin!

July 18, 2006 –  The boys renamed him Cooper.  He has already gained 2 lbs. and is getting taller!  We are still working on the  “potty training”.  He is pretty good about letting us know.  He has gotten more active and loves to chase the boys in the backyard – but only in the morning and at night.  He likes the air conditioning during the day!  He has become a member of our family.  Thank you for giving Cooper to us!

Sedona

July 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sedona!

Bisquit

July 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bisquit!

July 7, 2006 –  He is doing great!  He was a little lonely the first couple of days, I think he missed his friends and chasing that crazy cat, but is better now and finally eating.   I changed his name to Bluegrass.  I live in Atlanta, but my heart is in the Bluegrass state of Kentucky 🙂 It’s obvious he was well taken care of with his foster mom (Sheila)  He loves to run and play; we are still working on him coming back to me when I let him run at the lake, but I’m sure he’ll get it.

Thanks for what you guys do!  I’m thrilled to have him.

Trooper

July 1, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Trooper!

July 18, 2006 –   He is doing GREAT !! We are all very happy to have a dog in the house again !! Trooper loves his early morning walks with my husband and his shorter walks in the evening with me. He is so good on a leash. A huge Thank You from our family, Trooper is just what our home needed. I have a saying hanging in my kitchen which reads ” A house is not a home without a dog “. How true.

Just thought I would take a minute to let you know Trooper is doing GREAT !! I do not think we all realized how much we missed having a dog in the house. His tail never stops wagging !! He gets so excited his whole body wiggles !! He has been to the office with me and just loves to visit everyone.  He is going to go to have a bath on Thursday, I am quite curious to see how he likes Miss Claire. ( She is the groomer at our vets ) We have held off, not wanting to overwhelm him with so much new stuff !! He loves his Sunday evening ice cream !!

December 8, 2006 – Just a quick note to let you all know Trooper is doing great!  His Christmas stocking is hung and he is quite curious about all the decorations.  We have an ornament that has a motion sensor and when we are all in the kitchen and it suddenly goes off, guess who is checking out the tree!!  We all love and spoil him rotten!!  A huge Thank You from all of us for letting him become a part of our family!!

July 28, 2008 – “I am just loving my new Family !! Does not seem possible I have been with them for over 2 years. My mom and Dad, well they spoil me rotten.  The big guys, well they take turns giving me an ice cream after Sunday dinner. The oldest just graduated from Georgia Southern University in May which got me a weeks stay at the beach !!  We were walking on the beach, very early one morning and this funny looking thing almost bite me on my nose. I think mom called it a crab. I’m not sure who it scared more, me or her. I like the fact that he will be here at home with us for a while. The youngest, well he will be leaving again soon to go back to Columbus State University, I wonder where I will get to go when he graduates ?

My vet, he takes real good care of me. Miss Claire, she works at his office, she gives me my baths and cuts my nails. The first couple of times I went I did not want to stay in the tub and I cried when they cut my nails, but now it isn’t so bad.   My neighbors have this new puppy, his name is Stitch and quite frankly I am glad that there is a fence between me and him. He has has way TOO much energy for me.

Which reminds me, if my mom and dad get the crazy thought to bring another dog home, please tell them NO !! I love being the only dog in my house !!  I hope all is as well with all of you, as life is for me !!”

Cooper

June 28, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Cooper!

August 28, 2006 – Cooper is a wonderful addition to the family.  Cooper has had all of his puppy shots and is very healthy.  He is just the happiest dog.    Always ready for the next adventure.

November 14, 2006 – Cooper is a wonderful puppy and we couldn’t be happier.  He and his buddy Calvin do everything together (both the good and the bad) and are inseparable.  They socialize well with other dogs and people.  We receive lots of compliments when we are out walking and always mention your organization.  We appreciate you giving us the opportunity to add Cooper to our family.

December 14, 2006 –  Attached are pictures of Cooper.  He is now 8 months old and very handsome.

Fall 2007 pictures

Prince Joshua Jordan Victor

June 24, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, JJ!

August 9, 2006 – JJ is good – I think.  He doesn’t get up on the furniture and he is more or less housebroken.  We got him a crate for the day time because he likes to chew books!  He’s a funny boy!  He sleeps upstairs at night and the dog crashes!  He is actually very protective for a Lab – has a deep bark that he is not afraid to use!  Very proud of him.  He plays really well with the boys, gentle and patient but likes to go for the feet and head with his soft, playful bite and snout.  My poor old man dog doesn’t know what to do with him because JJ really wants to play, but at 11, Cobi likes to rest and sleep.  He is very patient and lets him know when enough is enough.   I am really attached to JJ.  I like him a lot and think we made a very good choice.  He has really taken his place in our family.

October 10, 2006 – He is the absolute best dog in the entire world and we all love him very much.  He is very well trained and even rings a bell when he wants to go outside.  We are very thankful JJ is part of our family.

May 11, 2007 – Attached is a picture of JJ (the black lab) and Cobi (the “old man”).  I’m sorry I don’t have one of JJ alone that’s handy.  He and Cobi get along very well.  Cobi recently had some minor surgery and JJ was always licking his wounds.  He helped them heal and it was very sweet.

JJ has fit very well into our family.  He has turned into quite the snuggler at night.  He has a sixth sense for knowing when my husband is dead asleep and won’t notice him sneaking on the bed!  JJ is great with the kids as well.  Surprisingly, JJ is a pretty good guard dog.  He’s got great ears and a very strong bark. Thanks for keeping in touch.  We all love JJ very much.

Sunshine

June 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sunshine!

June 26, 2006 – WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE SUNSHINE!  She is sooo sweet and gentle.  The first night, she snuggled with us and then crawled into bed with us the following morning.  I can tell that she loves to be held and hugged.  She loves to go on walks and play ball.  And, she loves to sleep.  We figure she needs some rest after all the excitement over the last few weeks.  We renamed her Emma Isabelle Sunshine.  We wanted to find a name that reflected her beautiful face and sweet nature.  She is definitely a ray of sunshine to all who meet her.  We call her “Emma”.  We adopted this beautiful golden boy on Saturday.  His name is Buck.  They are the same age and are warming right up to each other.  They kiss each other, and we have even caught them sleeping next to each other already.  They both are well behaved and love attention.  We sure love giving it to them too!  In a nutshell, we feel so blessed to have two beautiful friends to join our family.  We had a wonderful time this weekend and are looking forward to bonding with them and having lots of fun in the future.  Thanks for being so easy to work with.  Mark was a wonderful host and made us feel right at home in the adoption process.  The whole experience has been great.  Thanks again.  You guys do a great job!

July 18, 2006 – Here are some pictures of Sunshine (Emma) at her new home.  She has adjusted well, and is doing great.  She is getting along great with her brother Buck.  Thanks for everything, sorry its taken so long to get you the pictures.  She looks a lot different now than the pictures on your website.

July 16, 2007 – Just wanted to send you a couple of updated pictures of Emma (formerly known as Sunshine).  These pictures are from this 4th of July.  Emma and her brother Buck spent the whole day swimming.  However,  I think Emma prefers swimming in Lake Lanier, but she had fun regardless.

I hope you enjoy them.

Harley

June 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Harley!

June 23, 2006 – Harley (now renamed Oscar) had an anxious night last night in his new surroundings, but he is a very sweet and loving dog and we are already crazy about him. I’ll keep you posted as we all get used to each other.
Mostly I wanted to thank you for all you did to help us. I have gained a lot of respect for the rescue organizations over the last couple of weeks. Good luck with all the other Labs, and THANK YOU!

July 7, 2006 – Oscar, the dog formerly known as Harley, is doing great.  You’re right, he is a big sweetie.  He loves to play and to get belly rubs.  My 12 year old daughter is crazy about him; it is fun to see.  After two weeks, Oscar is getting used to being a city dog, with a small backyard and walks on-leash, and we are getting used to having a 2 year old male dog, which is a change for us.  We’ve invested in a more dog-proof fence in the backyard, we are taking three brisk power walks a day instead of two leisurely strolls with our last dog (good exercise) and in general we have all come a long way toward getting used to each other.  He is definitely a good, sweet dog that wants to please and we love him already.

November 16, 2006 – And by the way, Harley, now Oscar, is a wonderful family member.  He is a goofy gangly gentle soul, and if I can ever teach him not to run when he sees a open door, he’ll be perfect.  We love him very much and he seems to have settled in very happily.  Here’s a picture, probably not website quality, but you can see the love….

Carson

June 20, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Carson!

June 29, 2006 – Well — it’s official — Carson is part of the family for sure.  Max LOVES him! My daughter has been at camp for the past two weeks and doesn’t know about the puppy yet.  She will be so surprised!! I don’t think his name will stay Carson…I am going to let the kids name him after my daughter gets home on Saturday.
He de-stuffs things just like Max!!  And he is an extremely sloppy
drinker … just like Max!!!! Our fence is now up and they are running around like there is no tomorrow in the yard!  I’ll send more photos as he grows.  I personally think he has already grown!!  He’s so clumsy with those skinny legs and big feet.  When he squats to do his business, sometimes he falls over forward on his face.  It’s hysterical!  He has potty trained beautifully.  He goes every time he is put out and has not had an accident in many days!!!  If he’s in his crate and has to go, he let’s me know so that I can let him out.  He is now sleeping through the night.  We let Max sleep with him at night.
They each have their own crate, but they like sharing for now.

July 25, 2008 – Jake is doing great!  Since he was the “runt” , he is a small dog…but he and his adopted brother Maxx (aka Huskers) love each other deeply and have lots of fun playing together.   I will send some pictures very soon   Thanks for checking in on him.

Goldie

June 20, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Goldie!

July 9, 2006 – Michelle…Can’t tell you how much we have enjoyed Goldie. She has finally settled in. She doesn’t look for you anymore down the driveway. She hasn’t escaped in about a week, of course our fence looks like stalag 13. She escorts us on our 2 mi walk every other day. She sleeps with us upstairs in our room (Romeo can’t climb the stairs anymore). She sleeps until we get up.
Immaculately house trained. She has become the huntress chasing our squirrels.  I’m not sure she would know what to do if she got one, but she stalks them anyway. She loves to ride in George’s truck, we’ll take her more when it gets cooler. Haven’t
made her a lake dog yet. She fell off the dock the other day. It didn’t help her love for water, but she sits on the dock.
Anyway she is a real character, Romeo jealous but he is getting better. He just grunts and gives up his toys. Thanks for doing what you do…
You taking care of her as a foster mom made the transition easier on us.

Flame

June 17, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Flame!

July 21, 2006 – Hey, I just wanted to let you know that the guy is
doing really well. I’ve been calling him Chewie, I
think it fits his demeanor pretty good I think, not
because he chews anything but because he is a big softy.
I think he has adjusted really well to his new
environment. I would say he is pretty well potty
trained, no accidents and he knows when I take him out
at night that it’s time to go.

May 10, 2007 –  Chewie is doing great. I haven’t taken any recent pics of him but I will send some pics when I do.

Tanner

June 17, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Tanner!

Tanner is doing great, he is a very sweet and mellow dog. Our vet thinks he is part chocolate lab and cheasapeak bay retriever.

He gets along well with other dogs and is very good with children. He also loves to go in the car.

Rusty

June 15, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Rusty!

May 10, 2007 – Rusty is a wonderful dog.  Thanks!

July 28, 2008 – Rusty is a great dog. We love him dearly.

Ben & Coco

June 13, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Ben & Coco!

January 17, 2007 –

Yes, Coco is doing much better.  He now runs up to me and loves to have his belly rubbed.  He is enjoying  a chew bone as I am typing this message.  It took awhile, but I he is very active with me now and I believe that his shell is gone.  He also loves playing with Ben.  They are great and I am fortunate to have them.

Sophie

June 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sophie!

July 2, 2006 – Sophie is doing very well.  She has been a real delight.  She adjusted very quickly to us and is very much a part of our family.  Thank you so much for this wonderful dog.  Here
our some pictures of Sophie.  She loves to be the center of attention.

November 1, 2006 – Just wanted to let you know Sophie is doing very well.  We our working with bark busters to help her learn some manners.  She learned to sit and heel and not pull as much on a walk.  She really is a great dog and we our very happy with her.
Thanks again for a wonderful dog.  Here’s some new pictures of her.

Princess

June 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Princess!

June 5, 2006 – Otis is sort of in denial that anyone else is around.  When we’re outside his mind is just on fetching and the tennis ball.  The past two nights, Otis has let her sleep on the bed and has not gotten jealous.  I’ve decided to rename her Pastey Cow.  I know, it’s strange, but the name has sentimental value to me.

May 10, 2007 – Pasty Cow is on the left in the top picture and on the right in the bottom picture.  She’s w/Otis, my 8 year old lab.  Otis has finally acknowledged her presence and the fact that she’s here to stay.  She’s doing great and Otis and I love her.  She’s so affectionate.  She loves to run really, really fast, chase birds and squirrels, and steal the tennis ball from Otis.  I can’t believe her first family surrendered her!!!!

Opie

June 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Opie!

July 19, 2006 – Just wanted to give you guys an update on Riley (formerly known as “Opie”) who I adopted on 3 June 2006.  I could not have asked for a more perfect companion.  After getting over his initial “fear”of hardwood floors, he’s fully made himself at home in my house and has made friends with everyone in the neighborhood.  He’s well-mannered, doesn’t bark unnecessarily and is just a delight to come home to in the afternoons.  I chose not to crate him and he’s been just fine with NO accidents at all.  There was a party at a friend’s place in the Atlanta Country Club and was invited by the hosts because they knew that he wouldn’t cause any disruptions.

I have friends queued up to take care of him when I travel but for now he prefers to stay with his new friends Sam & Zach (both labs as well).  He’s eating well, is very calm when it comes time for a bath and loves his new home.  We’ve been going to pet training classes where he is tops in his class.  He now sits, lays down, rolls over, shakes hands, plays dead and we’re shooting for “fetching a beer from the fridge” though that might be a bit out of his league at this juncture.  The instructor can’t believe that he’s as good as he is and was a rescue.  All of the other dog owners in the class want to know my “secret” for getting him to be as calm as he is.  I wish I knew what to tell them!

Without a doubt, I have the best dog in the world and he gets so much love and attention at my house and around the neighborhood, that I don’t think there is anywhere else in the world he’d rather be. Thanks for making this dream dog a reality!

December 18, 2006 – I know I’ve not corresponded in FOREVER, but Riley (formerly known as Opie – adopted 3 June 2006) and I have been extremely busy since Labor Day!  He’s still the most perfect dog EVER and is the envy of all the dogs in the neighborhood as well as the dog park.  There is never a
shortage of friends queued up to take him if I have to travel and some days friends will just stop by to pick him up if I’m not even there.  Fortunately, I’m not relying on him to be my guard dog because he doesn’t meet a stranger (just like his old man)!

I had his picture taken for Christmas but didn’t get around to sending out Christmas cards this year.  Perhaps I’ll do a better job of planning in 2007!?  Anyway, I wanted you to see my boy!  While he may look “regal” and “stoic” in this picture, I can assure you that he is very happy and very well taken care of not only by me but by those who know me.

Christmas came early this year when I adopted Riley and I couldn’t want for anything else during this Season!

Happy Holidays!

December 6, 2007 – Hi there!  Just wanted to send Riley’s (used to be “Opie” and adopted 3 June 2006) new Christmas photo!   He’s still the best dog EVER and is my constant companion as you might expect.  I’ve contemplated getting another dog so that Riley will have some company but I hesitate because I’m convinced that lightning cannot strike twice in the same household and the new dog would be as good as Riley is!  In the interim, he is still playing a lot with his best friends, Zach and Sam, (see pic of the three of them with Santa) and occasionally goes to “Buddy’s” house for sleepovers if dad has meetings after work!  Hope to see you all on the 15th at the Holiday Party!

Christmas 2008

Bubba and Sandi

June 2, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bubba and Sandi!

June 3, 2006 – Just wanted to give you an update from Large Dog Central.  All went well day one at the homestead.  We have discovered that Bubba has no problem sharing HIS bed with us.  Such a generous boy – and that Sandi is quite proficient with playing the squeaky toy (she’s so talented!) Our first night was very uneventful – each dog found a comfortable place to sleep and snore through the night and we woke up as one big happy family.  Can’t begin to express how happy we are with our new additions and how much more our new house feels like a home. Thanks for all of the information on heartworm, vitamins, etc.  If you have any additional important little tid-bits, please let us know. We’ll keep you posted.

September 21, 2006 – They are both doing really well.  Sandi is an absolute doll, VERY sweet, docile, loving.  Bubba is just a big character, more personality every day.  He is also the trouble maker – yesterday during the day he decided to get the package of toilet paper (8 rolls) out of the closet and play with them.  When we got home it looked like a ticker-tape parade had come through the house (it was hard not to chuckle); we were greeted at the door with him holding a roll in his mouth all proud of himself.

July 27, 2008 – Bruno & Cheyenne are just awesome.  After a few years now we have our routine pretty well established.  They sleep next to the bed and have learned when the alarm goes off to jump up on the bed to “help”.  We have about 20 mins of petting while the snooze button gets hit many times.  If I’m going to work a long day they sometimes come in with me.  Cheyenne and Bruno each have their own fan club at the office.

We also try to go hiking once a week.  Bruno has lost about 25 pounds and Cheyenne has lost about 15 – vet says they are just about right, maybe five more to go for Bruno.  They have a dog door and large fenced in yard – Cheyenne hangs out in the yard most of the day while Bruno prefers indoors.  The neighborhood children come over a couple of times a week to help play fetch (Bruno is an EXPERT at it).   Health has been great.  We had some interesting late night trips to the emergency vet the first year that are seeming a distant memory now.  (Bruno with his epileptic seizure and Cheyenne with a serious skin infection.) I’ll try to remember the camera on the next hike.  Hope all is well with you.

George & Campbell

May 27, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, George & Campbell!

June 5, 2006 – Brought Will (formerly known as Campbell) and Jack (formerly known as George) to the vet today…..Will is up to 12 lbs and is very smart….we’ve had very few accidents which is good being that we give him quite a bit of free rein.  He seems to enjoy the water…and loves playing with Jack.  Jack on the other hand is still tolerating Will….think he might have been a track superstar…he is some jumper…and a sprinter…he has bolted from the house twice….cant wait for him to know his name!  He really seems to enjoy his new digs and family.

I’m getting to be a big boy!

Minnie

May 26, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Minnie!

May 31, 2006 – The flight was fabulous. Jessica is one of the nicest people I know. Minnie ,now Chelsea is simply gorgeous and so lovable. My dog and she are getting along great. It was worth every bit of the travel. I was able to get a two seat section and put her in the carrier with her head out. I gave her the sedative and she slept for exactly one minute. I hope to get back to Georgia. Everyone was so wonderful and kind. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to adopt her. I promise to update you and send pictures. I also will send you donations from time to time. It is very important to me. I have never worked with such a well run organization. I LOVE your website. Do you know her brithdate? I asked Jessica if she knew. I just want to celebrate her birthday. Thank you, thank you for this treasure.

September 15, 2006 – Here are two pictures of Chelsea (alias Minnie ) . I adopted her on May 26, 2006. She is just an angel and such a snuggle bunny. She has really grown . She is now 6 months old and is getting along great with my other rescued dog, Dylan. I can’t thank you enough for what you have given me. She is already house trained and is very vocal about what she wants. I adore her and can’t thank you enough

December 16, 2008 -Merry Xmas from Chelsea ( formerly known as Minnie), in Pa   Thanks for helping me to find  a home. We are paypaling you a Christmas donation. Happy holidays.

Izzy

May 20, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Izzy!

July 3, 2006 – We renamed Brooks to Rocky and Izzy’s name is now Kelly.  They are both doing great.  They get along with our cats and have a lot of fun together.  I have attached pictures.  We will be taking Rocky soon to get neutered and then Kelly after that.

Bella

May 13, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bella!

June 22, 2006 –  Bella is doing great!!! She loves running circles in the backyard and chasing her tennis ball. It took her a couple of weeks to adjust to her new surroundings, but she is definitely the queen of the house now. I have tried to run some of that energy out of her, but she is relentless. I have never seen a dog with so much energy!!! She is most excited when I come home from work. She just does circles in the living room.

March 10, 2007 – Bella is quite comfortable here now. It has been almost a year since I brought her home, and I can’t believe it. As you can tell from the pictures, she loves playing in her backyard and lounging in her bed with her favorite toy. She is still just as well-mannered as always. I can’t get her to bark!!! And she has to be the friendliest dog I have ever seen. She never meets a stranger, whether it has 2 legs or 4. Anyways, she is loving life and sends her best!!!

Brooks

May 12, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Brooks!

July 3, 2006 – We renamed Brooks to Rocky and Izzy’s name is now Kelly.  They are both doing great.  They get along with our cats and have a lot of fun together.  I have attached pictures.  We will be taking Rocky soon to get neutered and then Kelly after that.

Star

May 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Star!

July 9, 2006 – Star is doing fine, we actually call her Superstar.  She loves to retrieve anything.  We will throw a ball, a stick, a stuffed animal or even her rope bone and she will always bring it right back.  I have attached several pictures of her doing her tricks (she blinked when I took the one of her sitting down).  She consistently will come when she is called and will sit, lay down and roll over.  We are working on high five, stay and heel.  She is a smart dog, plays a little rough sometimes, but otherwise is a joy to all of us.

Ebony

May 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Ebony!

May 26, 2006 – Ebony is doing well and enjoying her new back yard.

Dunn

May 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Dunn!

May 12, 2006 – Jackson (formerly known as Dunn) is doing great in his new home. Today he is out fishing at Lake Lanier. He has gotten used to his new sisters and cat brother, and everyone is getting along great! Thanks so much for what you do for labs. We are grateful.

July 5, 2006 – Just wanted to share that Jackson has relocated to Houston, TX.  He is getting HUGE and at 18 weeks weighs about 24lbs.  Here he is playing with his sister Dutchess and also an “I’m so cute” close-up.  Thanks again for all you do! We are so grateful to have Jackson in our family.

Daisy

May 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Daisy!

October 26, 2006 – My sister and I!

Carley

May 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Carley!

May 7, 2006 – Toby and Carley are getting along smashingly.  They lounge, sleep, eat, play and do everything together.  They are the best of friends and have nothing but nonstop fun, in between sprawling side by side in the middle of whatever room we all happen to be occupying at the time.

Also, I’m so taken by the love you all have for these dogs, I hope we can do a few things to help out.  We truly believe in your cause and think you do a fantastic job.  We hope you know how much people like us, not to mention the dogs, appreciate all the work you do.  All the best to you and your crew.

I wanted to send you an update on Toby and Carley.  Carley continues to learn, but she is actually a very fast learner.  Though she is still definitely a puppy.  She doesn’t misbehave as long as she’s in sight.  But let her out of your  sight, and she’ll stir things up somehow.  Nevertheless, she is a very sweet girl.  And she and Toby are inseparable. Here’s a picture of the two of them with our son.

Sweet William

May 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sweet Will!

May 29, 2006 – Willy is doing fine.  We and him are adjusting to each other.  We both have covered a lot of ground and still some to go.  We realized that he is an Alpha and are working
to tone him.  He is a very sweet and affectionate dog.
We love him and he is a part of our family.
Thanks for checking.  He has made a special place for
himself in our family and especially in my heart.

December 16, 2006 – I am attaching Willy’s latest picture.  We call him Willy as Sweet Will is too long.  He is a very sweet and playful dog.  Our 6 yr old boy and 4 yr girl literally jump and sleep on him.   Like the mom, Honey nut cheerios is his favorite.  We play find the peanut game with him.  He is a very very special member of our family.

Cookie

May 6, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Cookie!

May 7, 2006 – Cookie’s name is now Kiki…my daughter renamed her and since it’s so close in the way it sounds – I let her! 🙂
We LOVE Kiki…she is sooo happy here – she spent her first day with Sampson  (our chocolate lab) exploring the farm – she acts like she’s been here forever…she was exhausted at the end of the day and slept like a rock at the foot of our bed with Sampson at her side. She is polite, sweet, fun and thank goodness housebroken! I am so thankful that she found us through your organization – she is already a treasured part of our family and I hope that we can help her to be secure in knowing that she has a home for life and will never be abandoned again.

May 9, 2007 – Kiki hit the jackpot with us – we live on a horsefarm so she gets to play outside as much as she wants with my other chocolate lab…although she loves to sleep in the air conditioning and right by my bed.  We also have a beach house so she got to go to the beach twice this year…she loves the ocean and running on the beach.  She’s laying at my side right now – she’s so happy and grateful.  She’s very, very protective of me – even towards my husband..I think it’s funny – he doesn’t! 🙂

I lover her dearly and she is a valuable part of our family..she does great with the horses, very respectful and even loves the cat and the rabbit!

Clover

Apr. 29, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Clover!

August 8, 2006 –  Holly (formerly known as Clover) has been spayed.  She is getting her stitches out this Saturday.  She will be very happy to get the E-collar removed.  Through all of this she is still growing and gaining weight.  On June 11th, she weighed 19 pounds.  On August 1st, she weighed 40 pounds.  When she tackles you, you know it.  Thanks again for the wonderful puppy.  She is a joy.

She is doing great and learning so fast.  Faster than we are I think.  We nearly have her house trained and doing wonderful on a leash.  She is such a sweet girl loves to meet new people and dogs.

May 30, 2007 – Holly (formerly known as Clover) is doing well.  We all have made it through the puppy phase of her life fine.  Boy, that was an experience.  We felt like we had another baby in the house for a while.  Her one year old birthday was in February and within the last two months you can see that she is learning very quickly.  She is starting to want to please us and listen to directions.  Before that, she felt like she was the lead dog in the house.  But she is calming down now and showing us how smart she really is. She is beautiful.  When the sun hits her coat at just the right angle you can see the red in her brown chocolate color.  Everyone always comments on how pretty she is.  She is doing well.  The kids love her and it is fun to watch her play with them.  I have attached a picture for your enjoyment. It is a bit dated from September 2006, but you will see that she is doing fine.  This is when she was 6 months old.  Now she is 15 months and weighs about 70 pounds.  Thanks for asking.  We board her at Paw Spa and the people get a kick out of remembering her when she was Clover and living there.  They seem to take good care of her there.

Colby

Apr. 29, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Colby!

Halley (Princess) needed another 4 legged buddy and Owen NEEDED another animal friend and along came Colby (the big cheese).  He is a wonderful addition to our home.   All he wants to do is hang out with his family and  get some lovin’.  Well that and monitor the squirrel presence in our yard. We can tell underneath all the extra weight there is a swimmer, but until he loses some of the 80 extra pounds he has on,  he will be a champion wader.  Thanks for allowing Colby to join our family.

November 15, 2006 – Thank you for allowing Colby to become one of our 4 legged children.  There is something about a kid and their dog.  Colby and Owen are the best of buddies.    Colby’s favorite thing to do is to watch Saturday morning cartoons with Owen.  One cheerio for Owen, one Cheerio for Colby all while
watching the Justice League..true boy heaven.  Halley, our 4 legged princess, also loves having him to play with.  We all love Colby and words can never express our thanks to you for first taking Colby in and second for allowing us the privilege of having him become a member of our family.

As you can see from the pictures Colby has lost his weight, he is down to just over 100 lbs (for a loss of 60 lbs).  Colby has learned excellent manners, shakes and fetches (all taught to him by his buddy Owen).  Losing the weight has made Colby a puppy again.

Thanks for giving our son such a great best friend!

August 26, 2008 – Colby is really doing well.  He is our lead squirrel chaser and still thinks he is a lap dog.  He has kept off the 60 lbs he had to lose for almost a year.  We still haven’t gotten him to swim but he will run around the water and wade in.

Rose

Apr. 27, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Rose!

August 3, 2006 –  I just wanted to give you an update on Emma (formerly known as Rose) and sending the attached pics. She is doing great and has grown to 30 lbs now. We recently went on vacation and she stayed with a neighbor and they really loved her being with them but they said that she really missed Alexa and me. (We missed her too). For the first time in 3 dogs I finally have a dog that is attached to me which is funny because the first two were supposed to be as well but ended up being attached to Marian. She is turning out to be a great dog and great friend to Alexa and Zach.

I want to thank you again for all that you did to help us bring Emma into our life. Keep up the great work in continuing to rescue these great dogs. I have referred you to several people already so you may have some families that maybe calling you soon.

Emma, aka Rose is doing great. She checked ok at the vet although she has a touch of something which is giving her the runs but should be fine in a few days.  I can already see that she is a very smart dog…not because she’s our dog either. 🙂 She just has that  purposeful look about her. I can tell her “no” one time and she stops whatever it is we tell her.  Even with her runs she hasn’t had any accidents and last night only woke me up once to go outside. (It took over a week for  Casey to do that).  Many thanks again for helping us find our newest addition.

May 10, 2007 – Emma Rose (Rose is her middle name) is doing just fine. Zach’s 1stwords were “momma” and “Emma”. Alexa and Emma are great buddies too. Her and Casey (our other Cocker Spaniel dog) have actually learned to like each other as well. She loves playing with the neighbor’s dog even though she’s about 10 times bigger and she also loves going down the backyard slide. If you don’t believe me we have it on video. She actually climbs up the ladder then slides down without much coaxing.

Thanks again for all that you and your staff do for these dogs and for bringing her into our life. I tell everyone I know if they mention about getting a dog to contact you.

Charity

Apr. 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Charity!

October 25, 2006 – Emily (formerly known as Charity) is doing very well.  She is a sweet, happy, and healthy little girl.  She goes to doggie daycare every work day.  She has quite a number of friends there and can’t wait to go and play.  Of course, when she is at home, she lounges on the couch or the bed or chews on numerous bones or plays with one of her squeaky toys.  She is a real joy and an integral part of the family.

Molly

Apr. 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Molly!

July 13, 2006 – Thank you, thank you, and thank you.  First, thanks for the work your organization is doing.  You really help make a difference in labs’ and peoples’ lives.

Second, thanks for giving us Molly.  She has been such a blessing to our lives as well as our friends’ lives.  We already had two adoptive dogs.  One is really old, a chow mix, and the other is well…a mix.  Not sure what she is.  So we were concerned about bringing in another dog.  In fact, the day we visited your adoption site, we were “just looking”.  Well…needless to say that 30 minutes later “just looking” became “new family member” in the Bonito family.  In fact, Molly was the first lab we looked at upon arriving.  She gave my husband a big wet kiss and that was it.  While we looked at the others, my husband kept his eye on Molly the whole visit.  I knew after that kiss from Molly that she was going home with us.

Oh and the other dogs in our home?  The old chow mix (she is in her 80s in people years) ignores her but Molly keeps trying to win her over.  The other mix, Angel, has a new sister.  They play and argue and sleep together.  Just like they were litter mates.

My husband wanted a dog that would swim with us.  He has had labs before and loved them.  We have an inground pool and spend many summer weekends in the pool.  Our other two dogs are not not fond of the water.  A lab was the solution.  Initially Molly was hesitant but after just a few days, she now spends her summer weekends with us in the pool.  I am attaching some updated pictures of her during one of  our hot July weekends.  Two weeks ago we had her spayed so the shaved area you see on her belly is just the result of her surgery.

And speaking of going to the vet…she is the hit of the party!  Every time we go everyone just loves to see her coming.  She gives everyone big kisses and she seems to enjoy going.  Even other customers in the waiting room with their own pets stop and say hello and get kisses!  Everyone loves Molly.

Thank you again for our wonderful new family member – she is such a blessing!

Allie

Apr. 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Allie!

May 22, 2006 – Well, Allie has certainly made herself at home here. She seems to be very happy with her walks, romps in the yard and cuddle time inside. One of her favorite pastimes is to sit in a big bed of monkey-grass and chew on nice big sticks.  She has a very healthy appetite, and we are working on our housebreaking, making progress already.  She is scheduled to go to the Vet on Monday for her next round of medication, etc.
She isn’t fond of rides in the car, but I’m sure that will change. We are taking her on short rides to get her to see that she will come back home and not go to the vet every time she goes out.
She is signed up for Puppy Training Classes that begin mid-May.
Thank you so much for all you do for our wonderful Labs.

December 21, 2006 – Thank you so much for the adorable Christmas card and for thinking of us.  We got out biggest present early last year when we found  “Allie” with you.  She is now 60 lbs of “rock-em, sock-em” girl lab who just loves life.  And we love her!!   Thank you all for everything you do for our dear labs.

Allie says “Have a Howling Good Christmas!”

May 14, 2007 – “Allie” truly rules here at the Hurdelbrink House.  She is the center of our attention and has grown into a loving, spirited dog that never fails to put a smile on your face.  We celebrated her first year with us and are so so glad that we brought her to share our home with us.  She weighs 62 lbs. but is still very sleek….I don’t have a “birthday pic” on disk at the moment but I’ll forward one to you soon.  Thank you fro checking up on us.  WE LOVE OUR FUZZY GIRL!!!

Thank you for all you do for our wonderful labs.

Nancy

Apr. 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Nancy!

I am on the road for a few days but got a good report on Nancy today – she has settled in very well and is receiving lots of love not only from our family but from the neighborhood kids!  She has proven to be a good escape artist but returns with a jump over the fence back into the yard when called.

May 8, 2007 – Nancy is incredible! We love her so much. She is the best dog ever! She loves to go hiking and swimming. We take her almost everywhere we go because she is so easy. We went camping at the beach for Spring Break and she had a ball! I will send some pictures of her chilling on the beach. They are hilarious. She has her nose in the air, her ears are blowing in the breeze and she has a grin on her face. I can’t say enough good things about her. I would love to hear how her puppies are doing. They must have the best temperament. We check the web site periodically. We would love to foster an older dog.

Sky

Apr. 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sky!

September 4, 2006 – Abbey (Sky) is doing great!! She is now 7 months old and is loving life.  She enjoys going on walks, playing fetch w/ tennis balls, and catching small fresbies.  She is only 35 lbs and we have been told she probably won’t grow more than 5 to 10 lbs more.  She’s our little runt!! Attached are some pics from her growing up…
Thanks again for everything —

May 22, 2007 – Sorry it took so long to get back to you.  Abbey’s great! She’s grown into not only a great dog but a great companion. She’s still full of energy 🙂 and loves to play outside with her dog friends! But she also enjoys sleeping right next to her parents…  Enjoy the picture!

July 25, 2008 – Abbey is doing great!  She is still full of life, but starting to grow up a bit. 😉  Great dog and we couldn’t imagine our family without her!

Summer

Apr. 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Summer!

August 21, 2006 – Here are some updated Pictures of Summer. She is growing so fast! She loves water and to play with anything with four legs. Her favorite toy is a duck that she carried around where ever she goes. She has already learned to sit and is pretty close to being house trained.

Summer, August 21, 2006 (What a beautiful girl!)

July 25, 2008 – Summer is doing great. She loves our new home and the big yard. She has turned out to be one of the sweetest dogs ever. I’ll try to send some updated pictures.

Hank

Apr. 19, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Hank!

June 26, 2006 – Hank loves his new home. He and Oscar (another rescue lab) are attached at the hip and spend their days together in our swimming pool, wrestling and chasing each other.

This is Hank’s first summer with his own pool and he loves to lie on the step during the day. When he swims his laps, he walks on the bottom of the pool in the shallow end and paddles with his front paws! He looks like  circus dog. Now, we can’t keep him out of the water.

It took a few months for Hank to realize this was his permanent home and he was with his family. Now that he knows this, he is incredibly protective and happy.  Our black lab, Apollo died this Easter at 15 years old. When he passed, we knew Hank was here to stay!!!

Levi

Apr. 15, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Levi!

August 2006 – “I’m a big boy now!”

May 8, 2007 – Buddy is doing great.  He has really become quite the friend to my kids.  We can trust him now to sleep out of his crate.  He sleeps with my daughter.  She loves it.

July 27, 2008 – Buddy is GREAT!!   He is such a good dog.  We couldn’t have been more blessed.  He is definitely part of the family.  He sleeps at the top of the stairs every night guarding the family.  In fact, he won’t even come down when my hubby gets up.   He stays right in his place until the kids wake up and come down to the den.  He is a super, super dog.   I will forward pictures of Buddy soon.

Bunny

April 15, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bunny!

August 8, 2006 – Daisy a.k.a. Bunny  is doing great.  She is beautiful and smart—-real smart.  She was actually at my house this weekend and I kept thinking I would get some pics  (Wayne is not good at that), but my grandchildren were also there and well….. it just never happened.    I’ll take some and send them to you.  She really is pretty.  She is about 40 lbs and typical puppy.   She was sitting in the office behind my desk while I was working– not paying a whole lot of attention—well you know that’s trouble.  Her leash was in the floor and it was in about 4 pieces when I turned around.    Also, my husband and I did decide this weekend that she will be very useful to have around over the winter in that she insisted on bringing all the firewood that she could tote up on the back deck (about 10 steps).  By the winter, she’ll be big enough to bring some big pieces up.  It’s been such a long time since we had a puppy around that it has been fun!!!

Nestle

Apr. 14, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Nestle!

May 10, 2006 – Nestle is growing so fast she won’t look like a puppy for long.  Her permanent coat is beginning to come in and it is a beautiful, rich mahogany.  She and her older “sister” Hershey are getting along much better now.  They play for hours.  It is funny to watch them play with the balls.  We are having “fun” training her, and keeping her from chewing on the walls, furniture and feet!  She loves painted toenails.  We love her dearly already.  I will send some pictures later.  She will begin her obedience training soon.  She has just learned to tolerate a leash.

August 26, 2006 – She is a big girl now.  And her coat has sprinklings of gold in it.  On the very top it is curly.  We think she is probably part Golden just from the color.  Looks like she has a good frosting.  She is still very playful, but she is 95% housetrained now.  She still chews.  I’m going to have to have part of the couch recovered, but we love her.  She is going to be a wonderful dog for a long time.

May 8, 2007 – Nestle is doing fine.  She is ingrained as part of the family.  She has a much different temperment than our older chocolate, but we have adjusted fine.  She has been through behavior training and seems to catch on very fast.  She stills chews, and she loves to hide her treasures, but she is cute as a button and really wants to be loved!  She is definitely an alpha dog!  But the two dogs get along well now.  If the older dog has to go to the vet (or in the hospital – she recently had surgery), Nestle mourns her.  Loudly.  When I took Hershey to the vet, Nestle stood at the back door and howled for about 30 minutes. We love her dearly.  She loves to run and play in our yard, but we haven’t been able to entice her into the pool as yet.  Hershey swims every few days, but Nestle is afraid of the water. I had both dogs shaved this spring to cut down on the shedding.  She looked like a plucked chicken.  I will try to figure out how to send a picture.

Buddy H

Apr. 14, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Buddy!

April 15, 2006 – Buddy is doing extremely well. Rode home well — lying down and getting up every time the car slowed to check out his surroundings. A little tentative at first in the house, as you would expect, and didn’t bother the cats at all. I’m convinced that he and Calvin will become good friends, because Calvin was great with Samantha and already has shown keen, friendly interest in Buddy. Buddy has also shown himself to be pretty smart, too. Each time he needed to go outside, he went to the door, made the slightest noise (not even a bark), and we took him out. Spent a lot of time with Tucker last night, slept by my side of the bed last night, and when John got up early this morning and took him out, Buddy then came and slept by John’s side of the bed until we all got up. An equal opportunity dog! He is just a gentle, sweet soul.
I can also tell that when his leg allows, he will love going outside and for walks. Each time we’ve taken him out on the leash, he’s been eager to try to explore the neighborhood and disappointed when we limited his activity. In a couple of weeks, when he’s able to walk farther, John will take him to the Chattahoochee for a swim.
Once again, our thanks to you and Sharon for all you did in making this happen! We look forward to having Buddy as a member of our family for a long, long time.

August 27, 2006 – I thought you might want to see these pictures taken today of Buddy playing at the Chattahoochee.  John usually takes him there once or twice each weekend and gradually he has become more and more outgoing and playful.  As you can see, his leg is very strong now, too!  We adore him.

May 8, 2007 – Buddy just celebrated his one-year anniversary with us on April 15th.  He is just a wonderful dog and everyone who meets him, loves him.  We just moved to a new house in March and Buddy loves the new house even better than the old one, since he now has two playmates next door and one down the street.  My son, who graduates from high school next week, took Buddy to school with him last Thursday and said Buddy was a big hit.  Everyone remarked on how handsome and calm he is.  He slept at Tucker’s feet during most of his classes.  However, someone must have never told Buddy he is a Labrador — he doesn’t like the water particularly, doesn’t have any interest in ball-chasing or fetch of any type, and has never tried to chew anything up!  He is the most laid-back, sweet dog I’ve ever seen.  He likes to go out and lie in the grass, and oftentimes our cats will go join him.  Makes for quite a cute scene!  My husband compares Buddy to our previous Labrador Samantha (who was put to sleep shortly before we adopted Buddy) like this:  “I don’t think Samantha went straight to heaven, because she probably had a few things to answer for first.  But Buddy will go straight to heaven because he has never done anything wrong.”  We adore him.  Thanks for all you do!

Holly

Apr. 10, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Holly!

May 13, 2007 – Holly is doing great!  It is hard to believe she has been a part of our family for over 1 year now.  I will try to locate an updated picture and forward it to you soon.

Raven

Apr. 11, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Raven!

Roy

Apr. 10, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Roy!

May 12, 2006 – Oakley (formerly known as Roy) is doing great! He is such a good and sweet dog. He wants to please us soooo bad. He has learned basic commands and has started to sit by the door to let us know that he needs to be let out. Oakley, my husband and I have been taking long walks and enjoying the outdoors. We have also become a lot more social planning get togethers with friends who also have dogs so Oakley can play play play. We have also found a doggie daycare down the road that he loves to go to. He has made two friends….they are Boxers brothers. We are so glad we found him. He is the perfect addition to our family. The cats are also warming up to him more quickly than I thought they would. =)

January 31, 2007 – “I am about 75 lbs.  I love playing catch with a tennis ball and dad is training me to bird hunt!”

Brownie

Apr. 7, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Brownie!

December 26, 2006 – Brownie wanted me to tell you what he got for Christmas…personalized food and water bowls AND a fleece jacket for those cooler days!  He says HI and he’s very happy and healthy and is 33 lbs. now!  His mom is happy too!

Lily

Apr. 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Lily!

April 10, 2006 – Lily is now officially “Roxy Jewel Wiggin”.  Quite a name…it was
almost harder agreeing on a name than it was picking her out!  She is doing great–getting lots of love, visited the Vet today, and slept through the night last night.  She is so very sweet.  Thanks for all you do.

May 8, 2007 – Roxy is doing super and she is a sweetheart. She’s great with our kids and the kids love her very much. Her favorite thing is to go on hikes and runs with us.  She’s a little bit spoiled as you might notice from the picture… Take care.

Rachel

Apr. 5, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Rachel!

April 10, 2006 – I thought that you might like to see the picture of HRH Sophie (formerly known as Rachel).  she has taken to swimming at a very early age and this keeps her in good trim.

We are really enjoying her company.

Thanks for all that you do for the Labradors.

May 4, 2007 – Thanks for checking on Sophie. We both are doing just fine. She had her annual physical and shots 2 weeks ago. The Vet said that she is in excellent health and is a very happy, active dog. Her weight is about 50 lbs, which would indicate that she will be a small Lab. She has the run of the yard (Invisible Fence) and a swimming pool that she uses year round. The highlight of her month is when my 11 year old Grandson comes for a weekend visit. They are great buddies and highly energetic. I will forward a picture later – problems with my new computer right now.

Angel

Apr. 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Angel!

July 20, 2006 – Angel is doing fine.  She is still very cautious but I and Derby and Cinnamon are loving her through it. Shadow and lights still spook her and unexpected moves. She still loves crushed ice. She keeps the neighbors amused by her early morning game of chase the squirrels. When I have worked too long on the PC she comes next to me and stares and then barks. I think that is dog for “enough already”.  She does not go to her safe place as often, although the 4th of July was a challenge. We sat together in her safe place for part of the time.  She finally cam down to the living room and sat next to me. Quite an accomplishment.  I took her to be groomed and she did fine. Of course I stayed right there like a mother hen. I have neighbors come over as part of her socialization to people besides me. She is improving as she meets new people but progress is slow moving. We just do a little at a time. I finally can sleep in the bed at night. Angel has added the master bedroom as one of her OK places to be. She gets lots of love and gives so much more.

May 4, 2007 – She is doing well. She scares easily but she recovers faster. I will send some pictures soon. I love her so much. Started training one of my other dogs to become a therapy dog. I am personally starting to train Angel. She is so eager to please. I do not know that she will ever be an official therapy dog, but she has provided therapy and love to me everyday. Thanks for helping to bring her into my life.

July 26, 2008 – Angel is doing great. I will download some pictures. She loves her squeaky toys and balls.  She sits, stays with a wiggle, leaves her biscuit until released and still jumps like a dear when she excited and runs. She will load up into the car and waits to go for walks.  She still is afraid of plastic bags, loud noises, small openings  and flashing lights. After dark she comes to me, sits on the couch and I put a towel over her head. Anything new intimidates her, but I let her assimilate it in her own time.   She plays and rough houses with Derby and Cinnamon. They are a tight threesome. She has brought and continues to bring such love into our home. Her name is Angel and she is one!!

Misty

Apr. 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Misty!

April 29, 2006 – She is wonderful, we love her.  Darby gives her all the toys to play with and Misty loves running the yard.  We changed her name to Molly and she already knows it.  (Misty made me think of being sad and how her former owners returned her… silly, I know, but we liked Molly better.)  She loves it here and Darby loves having a new playmate.  They run like wild in the yard, and sleep together like babies every night 🙂

May 2, 2007 -Molly is doing wonderfully.  We love her so much, she has been a terrific addition to our ‘family’.  She and Darby (2-year old Australian Shepherd) are best friends and play endlessly.  Although she is an indoor dog with us, Molly loves the outdoors and is a total hunter.  We fenced just under an acre, so they have plenty of room to run.  She also loves the water and is very pleased we have opened the pool already.  She doesn’t get in and swim (probably a good thing), but dips in at the steps every time she passes the pool.  She also loves the sprinkler heads and any hose you turn on.  She is up with the birds (the hunter in her) and flops down for the night around 9 or 10.  She is a very healthy eater, but is not fat at all.  When my daughter comes home from college, she says Molly has gained weight, but I guess Dave and I don’t notice it as much since we see her all the time.  My sister who lives up north sent a dog coat for when the weather is below freezing cold.   She might only be out for 30 or 40 minutes, but I put it on her anyway (especially in a cold rain) and she didn’t seem to mind.  Thanks for checking in.

Violet

Apr. 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Violet!

May 1, 2007 – Molly is doing great! She is a sweet dog. She loves the kids and loves to be with us. She also loves the car. She wants to go with us everywhere. Usually its the baseball park. I walk her around while my kids practice. She has her head in my lap right now.  I will try to send an updated picture. She is lean, has a small head and runs like the wind! I think she must have some greyhound in her. Do any of her littermates look like greyhounds? I’ll have to check your website for current photos. Thanks for all you do.

Bear

Apr. 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bear!

Darcy

Apr. 2, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Darcy!

April 23, 2006 – Thought I’d send you some pictures of Katie (formerly known as Darcy).  She’s doing really well.  I’ve been working w/her a lot on learning to heel, and today we went for our first 3 mile run.  She did great – she stayed right beside me w/o pulling.  The only thing is that for some reason she is really afraid of cars.  Whenever a car passes us, she freaks out and pulls really hard to get away.  Luckily it’s pretty quiet where we are, but we had to cross a busy street today and I thought I was going to have to carry her across.  There’s probably something behind it as far as her past goes, but we’ll keep working on it to get her past it.  She’s also become quite a swimmer.  She didn’t know how to swim at all when she first got here, but now she’s a regular otter that never gets out of the water.  Today she discovered the joy of jumping in the lake after a long, hot run.

May 2, 2007 – Sorry it’s been so long since I’ve sent anything.  Katie really has become not only a member of the pack, but a member of the family.  She has a very sweet, lovey personality, but an occasional mischievous side also.  This is Kenzie, Casper & Katie in their “puppy pile.”

Katie has a very big jealous streak in her, and she just couldn’t stand Casper getting to lay in Daddy’s lap, so she helped herself to his lap also.

As you can see, she’s made herself very much at home here.

Wyoming

Mar. 30, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Wyoming!

Wanted to let you know that Wyoming is adjusting great and already has claimed he spot in the house. He is great with the kids and is having a blast with our two other dogs. Will keep you updated on his progress. P.S. we taught him to sit and lie down…really smart dog.

June 18, 2006 – Just wanted to let you know that Buddy (aka Wyoming) is doing awesome. He just spent two weeks in NY and loved running through the fields and going for many walks with the kids. He loves to fetch and romp with his brother and sister (Milo & Lola). He provides daily entertainment for all and we LOVE him very much. He has added so much to our family – once again, thank you all for all of the work you do.

Dixie

Mar. 30, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Dixie!

May 15, 2006 – Here are some pics of Raven (formerly known as Dixie). She is such a great addition to our family. She adores the kids and Ruckus (our other dog) and is still intrigued with Boots our cat. Her favorite past time is chasing the kids around on the trampoline. She is such a smart, sweet natured girl who never wants to stray too far. We are proud to admit that we are FOSTER FLUNKIES!!!

Paddy

Mar. 30, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Paddy!

May 23, 2006 – I just wanted to send some new pictures of Cooper (formerly known as Paddy).  He’s doing great. We play ball every afternoon , and try to make it to the lake as much as possible. He’s a true water dog. Everyone who sees him is amazed at how fast he swims. Sometimes I think he’d rather retrieve than eat. If I offered a treat in one hand and his ball in the other he would always choose the ball.

Jasmine

Mar. 27, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Jasmine!

October 26, 2006 – My sister and I!

Buddy

Mar. 24, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Buddy!

August 29, 2006 – He is doing awesome! He rides to school everyday with us and has a giant red ball that he loves to play with. He is great with my young girls. We went to obedience training (Susie Aga) and he did really well. We are still working on not jumping up on people and heal, but he is a smart pup!

May 1, 2007 – Buddy is doing great! He is such a good boy and my kids love him! His favorite activities are walks at Roswell Park, going to the dog park, and chasing squirrels in the back yard. His cousin (my Mom’s golden) is coming for a week to visit and he will not know what to do with himself! We feel very blessed to have found him. He is still a traffic stopper and I hear all the time…”Oh my gosh…What IS he???”.

July 27, 2008 – Buddy the Bassador is doing awesome! He is such a great dog is he is really doing well on his obedience. We still have problems with pulling the leash and over-excitement around other dogs, but we are working on it. He is such a great addition to our family! Here are some photos…

Puppy Madison

Mar. 23, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Madison!

July 19, 2006 – Here are some pictures of June (the dog formerly known as Madison).  She is doing really well.  She is one of the sweetest dogs I’ve ever known.

Morgan

Mar. 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Morgan!

August 9, 2007 – I do have pictures, I’ll download and send over to you tomorrow. She…has been awesome! Chewing has near ended – and that Nylon bone you had me get…still gets activity daily and still around!  She loves the water….and to play fetch with tennis balls and the football non-stop. Funny, first 6 months she would not play or had no interest in any toys which had us thinking she was being trained in some aspect. Still, does not bark – lays in my office all day at home while I work – never an issue while on the phone, kids outside playing – no barking period except when playing. She gets along fantastic with our 7 year old cocker boy Zeus!

She has been in great shape, put good weight on (trying to take some off now) – really filled out quite a bit. Near 90 lbs now. I was approached at the soccer fields recently by the owner of a champion water jumper from the ESPN outdoor games whom wanted to breed with her….and was disappointed when he found out she was fixed. He loved her size and athletic hips/shoulders and her demeanor. She lays down while at soccer matches, practice….does not care about how many people are running around everywhere. Truly – an amazing gift for our family. The girls just love her.

Sandy

Mar. 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sandy!

December 1, 2006 – Sandy is being loved on by us all.  Our 3 children adore her (event though it is still hard to get volunteers for walks).  She has dug a hole in an indoor house plant to put her bone in, and also tried to bury it in between some sofa cushions.

Snickers

Mar. 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Snickers!

May 2, 2007 – She is a very spoiled dog.  She is VERY smart.  She fetches her leash and my shoes going all the way upstairs, even if for only one at a time.  She is convinced that Wally her cat elder brother’s food, is much more appealing than her own and gets jealous. Thank goodness Wally is very secure and just “fluff’s” her off.  She plays hide and seek with her toys and if I can’t play, she amuses herself outside by finding things she can fling into the air and chase after.  She is a very good guard dog and has an impressive bark. She loves to play frisbee and soccer and take long walks but most of all, she loves running with her neighbor and friend Bronson who is a corgi mix.  Bronson has good manners. He comes when he is called. Unless she is with him, she does not.  I keep hoping that eventually his good example will rub off…

I appreciate your interest. I also want to thank you for what you all try to do to keep these wonderful creatures from being harmed.

Astro

Mar. 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Astro!

August 1, 2006 – Watch me grow! Astro has taken very well to our family. He is just like one of the kids…plays hard and sleeps hard. He has found a few canine friends too. It has been a fast five months since we adopted Astro and he has grown just as fast. He weighs 55lbs now and is still growing. We will send more pictures in the future.

 Puppy Duke

Mar. 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Duke!

May 20, 2006 – Duke is the greatest dog I’ve ever owned. Since the day we brought him home he has brought NOTHING but happiness to me, my husband and my children. He has been so gentle and wonderful with everyone and shows concern and love if one of the children gets hurt. He is following commands now, as Chris has worked with him in our yard. He sits, stays, and will even sit in the middle of running if Chris gives the command. We keep him in the crate when we’re gone and he has never whined at all about it. We can even be in the same room and he just looks at us, but of course he’s so happy when we let him out. He lets the kids walk him, he doesn’t walk the kids, and he is my new jogging buddy. We even took him on a trip to Charleston and he was better in the car than the children. When we got there he had twenty acres to play on with my in-laws’ dog, and he had a blast. I wish there were a grocery store that dogs were allowed to go in because when I get home from teaching preschool I don’t want to leave him again. He goes with us to the park, to soccer practice, to swim team, everywhere! We all love him and are SO glad Cole picked him out that day. It was meant to be!  Thanks so much!

October 3, 2006 – By the way….he is the greatest dog ever.  We all love him sooo much and are grateful for him every day.  Even my father-in-law, who has raised labs for hunting, thinks his temperament is so wonderful.  We have truly been blessed!

December 12, 2008 – Duke is doing well and vet says he is extremely healthy.  Daily jogs and monthly swims in the lake have made this lab fantastic.  Thanks LFS.

Abbie

Mar. 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Abbie!

December 7, 2008 – Abby is doing very well – for a while, she did too well – hit 108 lbs!!! She’s lost back down to the weight the vet is happy with (98lbs).  The vet said she is on the larger side for the breed and extremely beautiful! We got so lucky when she picked me…. =)  We’ll keep looking at the site to see who is up for adoption as well.

I have attached 2 pics. One is the traditional bone she gets each Christmas morning, the other is her getting “busted” sleeping on the chair! She thinks cuz we don’t see her, we have no clue she sleeps on the furniture. We let her believe just that! =)

Winnie

Mar. 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Winnie!

November 13, 2006 – She is doing great.  We changed her name to Yana and I will get you some pictures.  She has a great personality and loves my other two dogs.  More to come soon….

May 2, 2007 – Yana (formerly known as Winnie) is doing great. She is a little over a year and is full of energy. She has an awesome personality and gets along great with my other dogs.  I have attached some pictures for you. I have some pictures to download of Yana hiking and swimming that I will send once I get them on my computer.  Thanks for checking in with us.

Tank

Feb. 26, 2006 – After some debate, we decided that we liked the name Tank best.  Tank came right in and made himself right at home.  It’s as if he’s been here for years.  It’s funny how some dogs are so adaptable.  So, without further a due, I give you Nikki and Tank….

July 28, 2008 – Thanks for the email.  I don’t have any recent photos of Tank, but he’s doing great.  From day 1, he came right into the neighborhood pack and they all love him.  The female dogs really adore him.  The girls all follow him around trying to get his attention.  It’s really funny to watch.  Tank and I have been attending training classes with www.sitmeanssit.com.  He’s doing great.  I’m very happy to have found him.

Thanks so much for everything.  I recommend your website to everyone I know who’s looking for a Lab.

Bruce

Feb. 22, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bruce!

Kristy

Feb. 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Kristy!

We adore her and she is full of fun and laughs!!

Christmas 2006

Bailey

Feb. 18, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Bailey!

Mason

Feb. 13, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Mason!

Tasha

Feb. 8, 2006 –  Happy Gotcha Day, Tasha!

Tasha now has a new home where she has an older fur-sister to play with and a family to love and snuggle with and give lots of kisses and tail wags.

We have changed Tasha’s name to Vegas to match her personality.  She’s such a performer & is always putting on a show for us.  Hi-way loves her new little sister.  As you can see from these photos, they are having a blast together.  Vegas is the perfect addition to our family and is enjoying her new home.

August 8, 2007 – Vegas is doing great and weighs about 80 lbs.  She is very much a mama’s girl and is sitting w/ me in my office chair right now.  As you can imagine…  I have the very edge of the seat and she uses the rest as her doggie bed.  My client’s all know her and call her my secretary.  She is not shy and is sure to let me know when I’ve been on the phone too long or that fed-ex is coming w/ a package.

November 29, 2008 – Happy Holidays!  I thought you would want one of the latest pics of Vegas (formerly Tasha, adopted Feb ’06).  Vegas and her sister, Hi-way, are all ready for the holidays.  I’m sure Santa will bring them lots of squeekie toys & treats this year.  Hope to see you soon…

Cole

Feb. 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Cole!

March 16, 2006 – He is doing very well and love him tremendously.  It took him a few weeks to get acclimated but he is now become completely comfortable.  He is so lovable and follows me around like a shadow.  He loves to go for walks and does very well on the leash.  Everyone that gets around him warms right up to him because he is so sweet.

Jersey

Feb. 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Jersey!

April 30, 2007 – He is doing terrific.  I will take a picture soon and send it to you.  He is quite a happy handsome Lab.

Jake

Feb. 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Jake!

Piper

Feb. 4, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Piper!

February 6, 2006 – All is well for the first weekend for both Piper and Mason.   Mason is very strong and always seems to have the upper hand with Piper, which concerned me, but as of yesterday they were playing fairly.  I think they are starting to feel comfortable around the house.  I think the biggest challenge for me was to dog proof the house and the yard.  It has been a little over a year that I have had a dog so you always forget those little things that they like to get into.  I’ll keep you posted and of course we will take pictures.  Thanks again for making this work so well for Miguel and I.

Heidi

Feb. 4, 2006 –  Happy Gotcha Day, Heidi!

We LOVE Heidi!  She is so sweet and so happy all the time.  She loves our family and all the attention and petting we give her.  She has been to the vet and we have new heartworm pills and flea ointment.  We have bought her a new bed from Orvis that she loves and a new pillow for her crate and lots of toys.  She is always good – doesn’t bark, bite, jump up.  Just sweet and friendly all the time.  We take her on 2 to 3 long walks every day and she loves her new big back yard.  Please tell her previous owners that we love her so much and will take good care of her forever.

May 20, 2007 – Heidi is LOVELY!  She is the sweetest dog and we all love her to death.  She gets tons of exercise and affection every day.  She is so loved and she loves us.  She is very friendly and agreeable all the time has finally stopped chewing our shoes (for the most part) although she does like to chew up magazines to get our attention!

Sasha

Feb. 3, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Sasha!

July 19, 2006 – The “kids” are doing great. They are hopelessly in
love with each other and have formed a great relationship in such a short time. But as they say pictures tell a thousand words. This shot is from our first family trip to Tennessee (my home town) over
memorial day. They practically stayed in the water the whole weekend. But the miraculous thing was that every time we threw a toy to fetch they swam out and brought it in together, no competition, just team work. What a pair!

Chelsea is such a sweet girl, we love her very much. We can not thank you enough and will continue to support your great organization. Please let us know if you need anything, we would be glad to help.

February 24, 2008 -Just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know Chelsea (formerly known as Sasha) just had her 2nd birthday. Feb 13 2006 is when she became part of our family. See the attached
picture of Chelsea and Chester getting ready to blow out the candle on her b-day hamburger! She makes our lives brighter because she is so happy and full of life. Every birthday is one she could not have had
with out your organization. Thank you!

Hope

Jan. 28, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Hope!

March 14, 2006 – Hope is a pistol!!!  She really let her hair down after being home a couple of days, and I think we’re getting used to having a crazy puppy around.

She is so sweet, but wild!  She often tries our patience we really do love her & so does Moby!  They sleep together on a big bed at the foot of our bed each night & she wakes us all with lots of kisses in the morning, although now that I think of it, she does not jump up on the bed anymore, and has been sleeping in a little later!

We love to play fetch with her stuffed bear in the yard, she leaps like a deer its so fun to watch her.  As you can see from the picture, she loves to play in the yard with us, and has even been down the slide a time or two.

July 25, 2008 – Hope is doing well.  I have attached a picture from earlier this spring.  I think she has finally adjusted to us and knows we are not going to abandon her.  She loves to run and chase the tennis ball, and she plays well with the cat.  Thanks for checking in – I almost didn’t realize it has been over two years!

Popcorn

Jan. 21, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Popcorn!

May 2, 2006 – Daisy (previously known as Popcorn) is part of our family and the neighborhood! She loves to greet all the neighbors and their dogs, loves kids, and will fetch a tennis ball until she exhausts herself! She is constantly amusing us with her antics and the funny positions she rests in…we have an acre of open land with a stream, both of which she loves to explore. If it can be said of a dog, she has a “great personality” and we are happy to call her ours!

April 29, 2007 – Thanks for your interest in Daisy…she is the “spoiled child” of this canine loving neighborhood….as our only dog she get s treats galore, toys, and plenty of attention. The acre of land we have sports a creek which she is fond of tossing her tennis ball(s) into and swimming out to retrieve! I tend to like her smelling somewhat better than that creek (nothing quite like wet dog smell) and so she also is bathed regularly! We still can’t figure out what the Lab in her is mixed with but she is an excellent jumper, turning twists straight up in the air like a gymnast! When we sought out a Lab I had something else in mind…I thought Daisy was not very good looking as her snout was too pointy and her ears stood out like airplane wings…but now I have come to know that Daisy belongs with us…we could not have gotten a dog with a more joyful nature. She has also been easy to train…walks without her leash at “heel”, comes on command (mostly) and will “stay” when directed. She continues to entertain us with her antics and approaches every dog and human with the same friendly wag…she cannot seem to understand those that are not interested in greeting her. I wish I had a photo of her sailing through the air…I think they are all too blurry! She really has only gained 3 lbs and looks the same as the day we met. I wish you all the best of luck with all the animals that you care for and about…

Suzie

Jan. 20, 2006 – Happy Gotcha Day, Suzie!

Suzie’s new family left Cape Coral, Florida this morning at 5am just to come and meet her.  They drove straight through and can you believe it, they are driving back tonight with a new family member!  Suzie is one lucky dog.  Suzie now lives in a house with a swimming pool and a big open spot of land where she can run and play.  We are really happy for Suzie and her new family.
