September 9, 2006 - Happy Gotcha Day, Raider!
September 14, 2006 - He is doing sooooo well. He has fit right in. I was planning on emailing you a pic this week. Of course, he is sleeping on the bed (with me!!) but the whole family has already bonded w/ him. He loves to ride with Rob in the truck and his favorite thing to do is play fetch. We are working on teaching him to heal and stay but his is a great “giver,” especially his slimy tennis balls. We are so happy! Thanks again for thinking about us when he came in.
October 3, 2006 - Sorry about the delay but wanted to give you an update on our big boy Raider! As I said, he came right in and made himself a part of our family. After a month, he is so well behaved, except for the occasional drooling during our dinner. He has not had one accident (fingers crossed) and is not a chewer. We have not had to crate him at all, even when we are all away. Since Rob works nights, I really worried that Raider would keep him up all day but evidently, he is happy as long as he is in the same vicinity as the rest of us. I think I told you, he likes to sleep on y bed and recently moved himself up to the pillows. A habit I am trying to discourage. Both kids love him! He watches every move that Eric makes is right there along side him. He loves riding in the truck, and (Rob will deny this) but the boys make special outings just to take Raider for a ride. Must be a man thing! Anyway, we are so happy and thankful for the opportunity to adopt Raider. We could not feel more fortunate.
May 17, 2007 - Sorry we have written lately. Spring is a busy time of year!! Raider is doing great. He has become a true dog of leisure, spending his days laying in the shade watching us do yardwork. He is good to stay right where we are in the front yard and has only “followed his nose” out of our yard once or twice but comes back when called. Other than that, he is usually sitting right where we need to be digging. Although he hates a bath, we cannot wait to get him to the lake to swim. (We had trouble keeping him out of the pool last fall.)Â Most of all, he is a great companion for Eric and listens (and loves all over him). Thanks again for bringing him into our life, he is a perfect match!! I will be sure to send updated pictures when I can. We may be looking for a brother or sister for Raider soon. Trying to talk Dad into it!! Thanks again.
July 25, 2008 - Raider is right next to me, trying to nudge my arm away from the keyboard for some needed affection. Of course, Raider waltzed right into our home like he had always been a Morgan! He is a housedog and truly wants to be wherever we are. He has gotten a little lazy (like the rest of us) but still loves to play fetch. Rides in the truck are still a favorite pastime, except he wants to bark at bike riders. Rob and Eric almost had an incident where they were riding past a bicyclist and Raider barked his deep, loud bark and the biker almost ran off the road. But we all know Raider is all bark and no bite and certainly never ferocious, just loud! He just wants everyone to know he is there. I guess my only complaint is that Raider is a heavy sleeper and bed hog! Most mornings, after Rob leaves, I wake up with a draft and there’s Raider, dead to the world, laying on the covers! As much as he is the kids dog, he is my shadow, following me everywhere. He is even content to lounge on the deck in the evenings if I have time to read. Other than that, he is perfect! Not one accident or chew incident. He will help himself to food left on the counter, not much of a stretch for such a big fellow like him.
Everyone that sees him comments on what a beautiful and big lab he is (exactly what I wanted!). A neighbor’s father who breeds labs has said he is the perfect specimen. We are sooo happy, Raider is a treasured and much loved member of our family. We are eternally greatful and definitely come back to you guys the next time we expand the Morgan clan!! Thanks again,
