MEET JODY!! This new addition to LFS is an adorable lab mix (maybe with beagle) who we think is about 2 years old. She is a friendly, sweet medium sized girl at 38 pounds. Poor Jody was almost euthanized by her previous owner just because she was heartworm positive, but that’s definitely no reason for a dog to lose her life, so now Jody is getting a second chance. Jody loves people and did well with children at the shelter. She loves to go for walks and gets excited to sniff all around. She rode very well in the car and plopped down for a nap during the hour drive from the shelter. Jody was in a temporary foster home for a few days where she did well, and her foster dad reported that she had a couple accidents the first day but then did not have any for the next several days. She appears to be crate trained. She is a pretty calm and mellow girl, and her foster dad said he never heard her bark in the time that he had her. Jody does have a higher prey drive so she would not do well with cats or small dogs, and she seems to prefer the company of people over bigger dogs.
Jody has completed the first part of heartworm treatment and is doing well. If you’d like to donate to her care so she can be rid of those horrid worms forever, please visit labradorfriends.com/donate-2. We greatly appreciate it!
Update 08/02: Jody just finished her last round of heartworm treatment and is doing great! She is such a fun loving dog who needs an active family with no children or other dogs. Whether your going on a walk or watching TV Jody wants to be right there with you!
