MEET BUDDY!!! Buddy is a 3 year old male weighing 43 lbs., who has sadly been in a shelter in TN since July 2014 – that’s 8 LONG months! He just arrived safe and sound to LFS! Buddy is a very sweet and happy boy despite his unfortunate circumstances. Sadly, Buddy is heartworm positive and will be treated in the coming weeks. Buddy needs a foster home to get healthy in – can you help? If so, please email Christie @ labfriendchristie@gmail.com.
FOSTER UPDATE 03/29: Buddy is a total sweetheart. Energetic, loving, social with people and dogs. He plays really well with his foster brother and sisters. He goes into his crate easily with treats or food. He sleeps in his crate in my bedroom all night without whining or complaining. He does like to be in the room with his human though. He looks forward to his exercise and long walks and will do well with an active and social owner who wants to take him on adventures, once he recovers completely from heartworm treatment. He is learning his basic commands and general obedience quickly. He wants to please and is a fast learner. He rides great in the car too. I just love him.
FOSTER UPDATE: Buddy rides great in the car. Sweet sweet boy. Learning more every day. He loves other dogs and is super social. He is a total snuggle bunny and very affectionate. We have been working on setting boundaries but he learns really quick. Food motivated which makes training easy. He needs and looks forward to his structured exercise because he is such an energetic dog. Everyone who meets him loves him. He would do great in a home with other dogs. We have seen cats on our walks and he doesn’t seem too interested but I honestly don’t know how he would be around them. He doesn’t appear to have a high prey drive.
Does buddy have a waiting list? Will Buddy be at the Adoption day March 21? My son is graduating college and has asked for a Lab to run with. My son will be home this week for Spring break.
Thank you,
Jeannine
Jeannine,
He does not have a waiting list yet. He will not be at the event as he still needs to be heart worm treated. Please submit your adoption application if you haven’t already and keep your eye out for updates on him. 🙂
Thanks so much,
Christie
Thank you Christie for your quick response! I also sent you an email inquiring about fostering Buddy with a possible adoption by our son. How long is the process is for the heart worm treatment and can it be fatal? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi there! We do like to keep fostering and adopting separate. There are two different apps for each of them, and you can fill out whichever one once you decide.
Heartworm treatment is usually very successful. The dog just needs to be kept quiet for 4 to 6 weeks after treatment. That means no rough playing, running, etc. Buddy will be going in for the treatment on the 27th and 28th, and then he will start his rest period.
Thanks again for your interest, Christie
We are interested in Buddy – is he still available and can we be put on the wait list? Thank you!
We are approved. Thanks – Kirsty Louis
Kirsty,
He is available and will be at our event tomorrow. Come by and meet him if you can. 🙂
His foster raves about him!!
Thank you so much,
Christie
