Happy Gotcha Day Pops!
MEET POPS!! This handsome older gentleman is about 8 years old and one of the newest recruits to LFS. He is as sweet as can be, and like many seniors, he’s pretty calm. He looks like a big old teddy bear!! Pops was a stray who was never reclaimed at the shelter, and it is clear that he probably hasn’t been well cared for in a while. That all changes now. He will be receiving a much needed bath and nail trim in the coming days, and soon we will get him into a warm foster home. Unfortunately, Pops is heartworm positive and like the other dogs in his transport, he came down with kennel cough, so he will have to spend a few days at our vet’s office while he recovers and starts heartworm treatment. In the meantime, Pops will be getting lots of TLC from the wonderful vet staff.
If you’d be interested in fostering Pops once he is cleared from kennel cough, please visit https://www.labradorfriends.com/foster-2/ or email labfriendinfo@gmail.com

Update 08/11/17 : While Pops and the rest of the dogs from his transport have recovered well from kennel cough, today we have some sad news. After Pops was shaved down earlier this week, we were able to see that he had some small masses near his shoulder and a large lump on his side. Today we found out that they were not what we hoped. They are mast cell tumors, and today Pops is having them removed and biopsied so we can know what we’re up against. Pops is such a good boy, and with everything he’s been through so far, this has just been heartbreaking for us at LFS. Please keep our sweet old man in your thoughts today as he undergoes surgery.

We hate to ask, but we need your help to raise the funds to help cover the cost of Pops’ surgery and biopsies. Anything you are able to give, no matter how small, helps tremendously. We are so grateful for everything we receive to be able to help our dogs, and we at LFS (and Pops too) can’t thank you enough.

Unfortunately, our new dogs in their transport came down with kennel cough and will have to spend a few days recovering at our vet’s office. As you may know, we are a not for profit rescue and ran by volunteers. If you would like to make a donation to help cover the costs for their treatment will be so very much appreciated!
