MEET JENNIE!!Jennie is a beautiful, sweet 10 month old girl who unfortunately found herself at a shelter after being hit by a car. Jennie’s time at the shelter was running out and she was in a lot of pain, so LFS stepped in to get her the care she needs. One of Jennie’s hips had to be put back in its socket, and we will re-evaluate whether surgery is needed within the next day or two, depending on if her hip stays in place. She is on pain medication to keep her comfortable and is currently resting at our vet’s office. Despite all she’s been through, Jennie has been a fighter and isn’t letting it bring her down. Keep checking back for updates on this special girl!

Jennie update 12/16/2017: Jennie got to go to her foster home yesterday and is doing really well!! She’s healing as we hoped and starting to slowly increase activity. Her foster mom said she rode well in the car, and she’s learning her way around the house. She discovered she can lay on the sofa and we think she’s enjoying that. Jennie seems to be a little unsure around men, but we think she will come around soon once she sees that her human foster brothers mean her no harm. Jennie appears crate trained and will willingly go to bed in her kennel. It’s probably her ‘safe place’ right now. She’s doing great with her doggie foster sister and is curious about the cat, but has not chased him. Jennie is such a loving girl. We’re not sure where they’ve been all this time, but we just love her ears!! They have started to perk up when she’s excited, and it’s just the cutest thing!
Thank you to all who have supported our efforts to help Jennie!! We greatly appreciate all your contributions!!

Jennie update 12/05/2017: Unfortunately, even with constant supervision, minimal exercise, and lots of pain medicine to keep her comfortable, Jennie’s hip decided to come out of socket again. Because we didn’t want to cause her any more discomfort than necessary, we decided to pursue surgical correction to get her on the road to recovery. Jennie had her surgery yesterday (an FHO procedure) and is doing well. She will continue to be monitored and exercise restricted until she heals, and then we will be able to move her to a foster home. As always, she’s enjoying all the attention she’s getting and is being such a trooper through it all. We can’t wait for this sweet girl to be all healed so she can have her chance at the love she deserves!
While we knew it was Jennie’s best option for recovery, her surgery and care has become a lot more than we expected. Her original estimate of $1500 has now turned into $3000 over night. LFS is so so incredibly thankful for all of the donations we have already received to help Jennie, but now we must raise a bit more. If you are able and willing to contribute to Jennie’s cause, please donate by clicking at the box above. She and everyone at LFS send a massive thank you in advance!!She will be available for adoption once she has completely healed from surgery and has had some time to recover.
