Happy Gotcha Day Petey!

MEET PETEY!! Petey is an adorable boy with a heart as golden as his fur. He is around 4 months old and as sweet as sugar! He was found injured on the street by a good samaritan. To avoid certain death at an animal shelter, LFS stepped in and got this boy the medical attention he needed. It appeared that Petey must have been hit by a car at some point, as the left side of his body was injured and somewhat bruised, while his right side was unharmed. Unfortunately after multiple consultations with different specialists, we found out that his left elbow had an old fracture in it that had healed completely wrong and was now beyond repair. Petey limped badly with that leg and would hold it up all the time, and it really seemed like he just could not get comfortable to lay down on that side. Because of this, we decided to amputate his leg and give him the best chance at a happy life, free of pain.
Petey had his leg removed a couple days ago and is already feeling much better! He is in great spirits and is quite the resilient little puppy. He can already zoom around on three legs like a champ and is soaking up all the attention he’s getting. We have him in a foster home while he’s healing, so we should get updates on his progress soon.
