Meet ARDY!! This handsome 4-5 year old black lab is looking for his forever home. He came in as a stray to the shelter but was never reclaimed. Ardy is a friendly boy who loves to be petted. He has such a handsome, soft coat. Ardy is a little chunky and could stand to lose a few pounds, but he is on the smaller side at around 55 pounds. He enjoys going on walks and rode well in the car. Ardy appears to be a mostly low energy dog with a great temperament. Although he wasn’t really interested in treats or the food at the shelter, he did not mind me sticking my hand in his mouth or touching all over his body at all. Ardy knows how to sit on command but probably needs a little obedience refresher course. Overall, Ardy is a fantastic dog who just needs a second chance to find his forever home. Keep checking back for updates as we get him into a foster home and learn more about his personality!
FOSTER UPDATE 11/2: Ardy has finished his Heartworm Treatment and is doing well. He has learned all the routines in the house, and he continues to be a very good boy. Ardy gets along well with other dogs, even annoying puppies who jump on him and bite his ears constantly. He even gave in and let the puppy cuddle with him 🙂 Ardy also seems to get along well with cats, as he sniffed my friend’s cat one time and then proceeded to ignore him the rest of the time we were there. He knows basic obedience, is housebroken and crate trained. Ardy does still have a little bit of separation anxiety when we are leaving the house, but he has improved greatly since coming into foster, and he usually settles down in his crate after a few minutes.
Ardy is a cuddle bug and loves to follow you wherever you go around the house. He likes to know where you are all the time, and he’ll even go in the bathroom with you if you let him. He is not destructive and has not chewed up anything he wasn’t supposed to. Tennis balls, bully-sticks, and kongs filled with treats are his favorite things (and belly rubs)!
Foster Update 09/18: Ardy is doing well. He is a handsome, happy, moderate-energy dog who is looking for his forever home. His favorite things are cuddling with you, chewing on bully-sticks or a kong toy, and chasing the tennis ball. He knows commands like sit and down, and walks well on the leash. Overall he is a very obedient dog. Ardy does well with most other dogs and is even doing well living with a puppy. He enjoys going for walks and exploring around the neighborhood. As you can tell from the pictures, he is quite the photogenic dog 🙂 Ardy is crate trained.
How much are the adoption fees?
HI Kevin!
Our adoption fee for adult dogs is $275. All of our adult dogs will be spayed or neutered and vaccinated.
Thanks so much,
Christie
Do you know how Ardy is with Children?
Hi Jennifer,
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you.
We have not seen how he is with children yet, but he is a very patient boy and does not mind having his feet touched or playing with his tail and ears so it would seem he would be fine with children. However, loud noises and large crowds do make him anxious.
Thank you for your interest in Ardy and let us know if you have any other questions 🙂
-Kristin

Hey! I know this is kinda off topic but I was wondering if you
knew where I could locate a captcha plugin for my comment form?
I’m using the same blog platform as yours and I’m having problems finding one?
Thanks a lot!
