….Yesterday we said goodbye to Everest (formerly Lovebug, one of Lexi’s pups) who we adopted from Lab Friends on September 27, 2016.
In January, Everest was diagnosed with a malignant oral melanoma that was fast moving and had unfortunately spread to her lymph nodes and lungs. Due to the location of the tumor across the top of her hard palate, surgery was not an option. We did remove her lymph node and tonsil, and she had Oncept immunotherapy, but sadly, the cancer started to affect her breathing, eating and sleeping.
We made the hard decision to have her pass at home, rather than wait for an emergency situation to arise. We wanted her comforted by us, and not to suffer.
She was the sweetest, best girl and we loved her so much, and will miss her every day. It has been a rough year losing Marshall to old age / cognitive issues in March, and now dealing with the loss of Everest to cancer. For the first time in 14 years, we do not have a Lab Friend at home with us…
…Thank you for all that you do – we will be contacting you in the near future, as we love your organization and all these amazing dogs.
