Meet MATTHEW! We do know that handsome Matthew is unfortunately HW positive, so he will have to be treated before he will be available for adoption. The employees and volunteers at the shelter couldn’t say enough GREAT things about this sweet boy (and worked so hard to find him a rescue), so we are all anxious to meet him! Stay tuned while we find out more about him.
Foster Update 04/25: Matthew is extremely well behaved and appears to have been previously trained by someone. He walks great on the leash and gets along with both of my other male dogs (3 yr old Lab/Great Dane and 6 yr old Lab/Pit). He likes to follow me everywhere I go and loves his little legs and belly rubbed once he gets there. Being contained in a crate or in a gated area is not high on his list of favorite things. I’ve witnessed some rather graceful gazelle like jumps over 3 foot wooden gates. 🙂
Matthew is fully housetrained and has free range of the house during the day while I am gone. He has not chewed anything other than bully sticks and settles down quickly in the evening next to my bed. Because he’s a jumper, he’s also a climber so it would be a good idea to keep anything delicious off of the counter. His favorite thing so far was one pound of Boar’s Head Rosemary Chicken. 😉 If you adopt Matthew you will have adopted the best little labby in town!
Update 04/03: Matthew is a sweet and handsome boy. He is a smaller guy and once he fills out a bit more will stay a medium sized lab (perfect to keep items on your coffee table safe from that sneaky Labby tail!). He is relatively calm and appears to be crate trained. Matthew is very sweet but can be a little nervous in new environments. Matthew is good with other dogs. He has started the HW treatment process and will be available for adoption soon.
My family and I are looking to adopt a black lab. Please let me know if Matthew is available and if the HW issue has been resolved.
Thank You,

HW treatment will be completed after a couple months. Please email labfriendinfo@gmail.com for more details.
Do you know how Matthew is with cats and small dogs? He’s such a handsome boy, and we’re looking to add another fur baby to our family! We have 3 cats (2 females and a male, 1.5 years old) and a Yorkie (female, 7 years old).
Thanks,
Danielle Kovalick
Hi Danielle,
Matthew is a pretty mellow dog and is good with other dogs. We don’t know how he is around cats tho. He is reactive with squirrels in the yard, so he may or may not be the same with cats, hard to tell.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Do you know how well he interacts with small children? I have a 8yo and almost 2yo that loves dogs.
