Meet Ralph!!! He is 2 year old, a bit timid, but all the foster parents are wanting to have this guy even if it is just for a little while. He is such a handsome boy!
FOSTER UPDATE:Ralph is a 2 year old absolute love. After we picked him up, we drove home with him resting his head on my husband’s shoulder. He was fine through the night, sleeping at the foot of our bed, and went to the bathroom when we let him out. After breakfast he went back upstairs, crawled into our bed and fell back asleep with his head on my husband’s chest for another 30 minutes. He comes when you call and sits on command. He is learning not to jump but responds well to “no”. He is 2 years old and wants to check everything out, so he is fairly energetic. However, he does respond to “no” and will eventually lie down and relax.. He is fine with our other 3 dogs and had a great time at the dog park too. The best part about Ralph? He likes to give kisses and likes to cuddle. Something my other 3 never got into.
Thanks for the update on Rafe (as in Raphael and as in Ralph van Williams).
He and his brother – Michael are very loving, love to give hugs and kisses.
I miss them and will grieve always for them. I am so very thankful that people like you recognize the value of these wonderful expressions of God’s love. Thank you for loving my Rafe.
Please be assured that he is very much loved and being well taken care of.
We would love more information on Ralph and possibly come see him today! He’s so beautiful and our daughters would love him!
Hi Ashley!
Have you been able to fill out our adoption application? That is our first step.
Let me see if I can get some info for you.
Thanks,
Christie
Can you let me know if Ralph gets adopted? He looks very similar to our Brodie that we lost just a few months ago to cancer. We have been approved through another adoption agency but we would love to see about him. Thanks!
Ashley,
here is some feedback from his foster and his temp foster from the weekend:
Ralph has a heart of gold, but is a bit skittish and can tend toward the anxious side of things, especially in new environments. The report I got is that he is about 75% house trained, but he didn’t have any accidents while he was at our house this weekend. Ralph loves to snuggle, but also enjoys a fast-paced game of fetch. He is food oriented, and extremely gentle when taking treats. Ralph tolerated our toddler just fine, but our son was obviously more smitten with Ralph than Ralph was with him. Ralph will likely do well either as an only dog that gets tons of attention from his people or in a family with a confident dog that will not feel threatened by Ralph’s need for attention and constant companionship.
Ashley, I can also tell you from my own experience on his transport day that he is quite the love!
He had his head resting on my arm most of the 2 hour trip! 🙂
Thanks,
Christie
Kristy, he has not been adopted yet. Please fill out our adoption application if you haven’t already. There is some great info on him above. 🙂
Christie
Thank you so much for all the feedback!! Things have been a little hectic this week with school starting back and I haven’t been able to sit down and finish the application yet. Will do asap!!! I would LOVE to be able to bring him home!!! My girls would love him! 🙂
Rafe (Ralph – I named him Raphael, called him Ralph – Rafe as in Ralph van Williams, composer.). Rafe was born Easter Day, 2012.
He and his brother, Michael, came to me as soon as they were weaned. We all bonded/loved immediately. When at work, they were in a 5×10 kennel except when being walked/ exercised then brought in at night where they spent the night at my bedside in individual large crates (dens).
They were loving, mischievous, alert. They did feed on one another’s craziness. Slipping from my hold, ran away 3 times but returned in a short time (30 min to an hour). Rafe did suffer a broken leg on their first outing (run away). I heard him cry out and immediately scoured the neighborhood only to find them on my back porch. Rafe was holding up his hurt right leg for me to fix. Fixing was an immediate trip to the vet who casted the leg. His healed well with no noticeable problem.
Both were always very loving, showering me with hugs and kisses frequently.
Sadly, my health deteriorated – knee problems and other problems such that I am unable to give them the attention they deserved and needed. Thank God the vet knew of Lab Friends of the South. I am grateful that “my Boys” have found happy homes where they will be well cared for.
They are wonderful. Now and always I will miss them and I will always love them.
Thanks to you who have adopted them. I know they will bring you lots of love and happiness.
