Happy Gotcha Day Sam.
Meet Sam, a gorgeous 2 years old chocolate boy. He is great with other dogs and people. He is 61 pounds but needs to put quite a few pounds on. He will be a big boy once he fills in. Sam needs a fenced in yard as he likes to run if he gets the chance. He does not like cats. Sam would do best with a lot of attention or another dog.
Has the chocolate lab Sam been checked for a chip?? Is he neutered? Not sure
If he came in as a stray but there is a chocolate lab by the name of Moose missing
He looks much like Sam. Any info is appreciated. Check out Help Find “MOOSE”
Facebook page. Thanks!
Thank you for the heads up. Sam was not a stray. He is an owner surrender and he has been with his family since he was a puppy. I wish I could help the people looking for Moose find their dog. Elena
Elena–
How much does Sam not like cats? 😉 With supervision and training, do you think he’ll be ok or do you think he’ll chase all the time? He’s quite the looker and we’re looking to expand the family, but we have a cat. We walk daily and I feel like I’m a pretty experienced handler . . . if it’s something to which you think he can adjust with training, I’m interested!
I am not sure about this answer. In my mind if a dog has prey drive toward cats it will be very hard to make him change his mind. This said a lot depends on your cat and how good he/she is at hiding in high places and not run. We would not want anything to happen…
Would you consider a foster in Illinois?
Fosters need to be in the Atlanta area. Adopters can be out of state.
Please contact me me and my girlfriend are interested in him we have a fence and another chocolate lab. How do you think he would do with another male chocolate? Mine is about 125lbs but he does great with our little lap dog female
Please email Erin at labfriendinfo@gmail.com thank you! Elena
Tanner,
Sam does great with other male Labs. He is currently being fostered with a male and two females. He loves other dogs and would also love a fenced yard since his only issue is running off when off leash.
He is absolutely adorable. We have an invisible fence for our lab (only for potty/play time, he is an indoor dog) and it works beautifully–do you think that could possibly work for Sam? We live on a small lake and won’t be putting up a physical fence. Also, is Sam very hyper, or just active during playtime? We are looking for a sibling for our 4-year-old male lab.
Sam is active and loves to play. I think it would work only if you were willing to keep him on a long lead while he is out there with you. I think his drive to run would be too strong for any invisible fence. I simply would not trust him.
Interested in meeting Sam…..we have completed all the required paperwork for adoption.
Also….how do you know he is only 2? We just recently lost our chocolate of 11 years and he did not have nearly the amount of gray Sam does…..
We had two different vets check his teeth. If you look at Charlie, who is 7, he has less grey also. Some dogs just get grey earlier, a little like people. If you met Sam you would have no doubt that he is not older than two!
