Turner crossed the Rainbow Bridge

We said goodbye to our precious Turner this week. She came to us as a scrappy little rescue pup from LFS almost exactly 14 years ago, “Barbados” from the Island Puppies. She made our lives better every day since.
Over the years, she had many important jobs around the house – keeping big brother Wrigley (also an LFS alum, formerly “Elvis”) entertained with nightly games of tug-of-war, serving as my devoted officemate during the pandemic, supervising kitchen activities to ensure no loose scrap of food was ever abandoned, and most importantly, overseeing daily wake ups and tuck-ins for many years for the two rambunctious boys she loved with every fiber of her being. It’s not always easy to be a girl in this family of men, especially when you’re the littlest one, but she kicked butt and took names on a daily basis. She was never short on confidence.
For reasons we will never know, she adopted a purple rubber hippo toy as a puppy and from that moment forward, it was her “baby,” accompanying her throughout the day and off limits to everyone except me. I consider it a great honor to have been chosen for this co-parenting responsibility. I will deeply miss the little squeaks of that ridiculous hippo. They always seemed to come at the most inopportune times, sending giggles and knowing glances through the house. Even if you couldn’t see her, the minute you heard that squeak, you knew Turner was around somewhere, and she was happy.
She loved watching TV, guarding the front door for possible intruders disguised as Amazon deliverymen, ear massages, and all things cheese. She was the very best girl and our hearts are broken. I’m comforted to know Wrigley was waiting for her on the other side of the Rainbow Bridge and they are now running free, together.
Thank you, LFS, for allowing us the honor of being her people all these years. She was pure joy and we loved her so much.
