Happy Gotcha Day Winter!

Labrador Friends of the South - Available Lab Winter 6

Meet Winter. She is a very sweet and quite 2 years old black lab. She was at animal control where she was attacked by a kennel mate and now she has scars behind her ears (they have been treated). She is so cute and happy we could not bear the thought of her being hurt again.  So she is now with us. Why not making the 2014 start on the right foot by saving a dog? Come back soon for updates and more pictures from her foster home.

FOSTER UPDATE: My crate is cozy and warm so I like to hang out here when my foster family is doing boring stuff.

FOSTER UPDATE: Winter (Winnie) is continuing to do well here with us and her foster sisters. She has slept through the nights since she has been with us. She is definitely house-trained – not one accident but we do stay on a regular schedule with trips outside. She is also crate-trained. We’ve not seen any signs of aggression about food, toys or space. When it comes to our four female dogs Winnie has been slow to warm up. It’s taken a little over 4 days but she’s showing more interest in playing with them now. She’s definitely a mama’s girl and has to know where her foster mom is at all times. We pushed her boundaries a little today and took Winnie over to meet our 8 two-legged nieces and nephews (ranging from newborn to 9 yrs old) and their unbelievably patient four-legged sibling (What a Life Update – McKenzie is as sweet, loving and full of energy as ever!). Winnie did well with all of the kids and didn’t seem fazed at all by the noise and the constant coming and going. She and McKenzie had no issues. We don’t know how she will be with cats and don’t have an opportunity to test that one. Winnie is very affectionate towards us. We think she’ll be a great addition to any home including one with kids, although we get the feeling that she’ll latch on to one person and be “their” best friend.
