Meet Benny
Benny was just surrender to LFS. He was born in December 2021. He is full of life and love. He has lived his entire lives outdoors with a female. He has never shown any aggression towards other dogs or people, but he has had limited exposure due to his living arrangements.
Benny Bear is a complete sweetheart. The same person has raised him since he was six weeks old. Benny loves toys and social interaction. He has not been leash-trained, but is a big teddy bear and scared of storms. Benny will enjoy your company and is easily motivated by treats. He is great with older kids, as he is a tall dog and can accidentally knock down little ones. Ben has lived his entire life outside. He is an easy-going spirit who will accompany you on backyard explorations. At the vet’s office, he is everyone’s favorite boy. His previous owner was planning on taking him to a high-kill shelter due to her aging and health conditions but LFS was able to step in and save this sweet boys life! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for this boy!

Update: Unfortunately, a couple forever families fell through for Benny this weekend. BUT, we are excited to say that we were able to get Benny into a foster home! He is finally eating again and has turned into the happiest boy!
Benny has had a great first day and night in his foster home. Turns out he just needed a home and pack to come out of his shell. He has finally started eating, going potty outside, has been great with the other dogs, has been exploring and starting to show his playful and silly side, and has been my shadow and loves to lay next to me wherever I go.
Update: I had a bonding day with Benny He’s currently laying in the shade just hanging out and looking around. I took him for a walk and he did very well! He never pulled on the leash and was very well behaved. He was still nervous but loved being told he was a good boy. He has the cutest butt sway when he walks.
We still are having a hard time getting him to eat. He likes to eat chicken and rice at night. He sadly has a UTI because he is refusing to go to the bathroom. We are doing everything we can to try and help this sweet boy.
He does well around other dogs and has started doing daycare too. His happy place is just being in a yard with someone near while he observes and takes a snooze.
Update: Watching an owner surrender adapting to life in a kennel is tough. Sweet Benny has been having a hard time settling in. He is very shut down. He would hardly let me pet him without shaking out of his body.
He’s a big boy at 120lbs.
would do best with older kids due to his size
dog friendly, lived with a female dog his entire life
has never lived inside, so will need a patient family hat can show him the ropes
