Happy Gotcha Day Darrell!

MEET DARRELL!! This good boy is about 4 years old and a new addition to LFS! Darrell was found as a stray and time was running out for him at the shelter, so LFS stepped in to give him a second chance. He is a super sweet, loving boy and will gladly roll over for a belly rub. Darrell seems to do well with other dogs and made friends with Maria (also adoptable) in no time. We’re still learning about Darrell and his personality, so check back soon for updates!

Foster Update 2/5: This is Darrell’s happy face! He loves is Foster home but he would still love to find his forever home. He would work great for any one looking for a well behaved boy! He is great on on and off of the lease. He is great around kids as he doesn’t mind you getting in his face or roughing him up a little bit but would do best in a home without them since he can still get a little overwhelmed.  He isn’t one for jumping on furniture and hasn’t had any accidents in the house. Darrell loves going to the dog park and being outside but doesn’t mind having a lazy day as well. He is a very go with the flow/ laid back kind of dog and will be a great addition to any household.

Foster Update 11/29: Darrell got to spend the Thanksgiving  holiday week with LFS alumni Watson and his sister Dixie while his foster was out of town. Darrell has been an absolute gem. If you are looking for the most laid back dog that just wants to be loved on and is truly deserving of a forever home, Darrell is it. Foster Update 08/14: Darrell has been with us for a few months now and he has really settled in but he would love to find his new family and forever home! He has been doing great in the house with only a few accidents when we first got him! Darrell loves his toys and walks around the house with them in his mouth. Although he doesn’t like to cuddle all that much he will politely sit for attention. Darrell loves going on his daily walks to the park where he does some exploring and he is very easy to walk. He loves going to the dog park although he is more of a sniffer than a player. This good boy is quite a dime in our book and would be great for anyone who will give him the attention he craves!

Foster Update 07/21: Darrell is having his own mini vacay while his foster mom is out of town! His temporary foster family is so impressed with his excellent manners and his ability to quickly adapt to a new environment. He is awesome in the house, completely potty trained, and doesn’t need to be crated when left alone. He is really enjoying hanging out with his pal Watson and checking out all of his toys. This sweet boy is a total catch! Time to make him a permanent member of your family before he gets scooped up!

Foster Update 06/16: Darrell has been doing great in our home. He has come out of his shell so much since the day we brought him home. He is the sweetest boy and will take all of the attention he can get but he is not much of a cuddler and he will sleep all day if you let him. Darrell had a few accidents in the house in the first few days we brought him home but hasn’t had one since! He isn’t to sure about big sets of stairs but is comfortable with just a few steps. Darrell walks well on a lease and is ok off lease but he does get the urge to go exploring. He is comfortable around most dogs but can get a little cranky when he gets face to face with some males. Darrell is a grazer when it come to food so feeding time comes easy. He is not too fond of car rides so getting him on a car is a little difficult but is understandable considering is past but he does well once he gets in. He is a very low maintenance dog and would work form any family with older kids because he does get skittish around fast movements although that could change with time as he gets more comfortable. Over all Darrell is a fantastic dog and he can’t wait to find his forever home.

Update 05/30: Darrell is doing great! He just finished his last heartworm treatment. He loves belly rubs and will sit in your lap for hours. He plays well with all dogs. We aren’t sure how he is with cats yet. Everyone who meets him loves his eyes-they look sad, but he is the happiest boy ever!

DARRELL UPDATE!! This sweet sweet boy hasn’t been in the greatest spirits lately. Unfortunately a foster for him fell through, so he’s had to stay in boarding, where Darrell started to shut down. We couldn’t stand to see him so sad anymore, so we moved Darrell to another facility where he can at least get doggy daycare and spend some more time outside and out of a kennel. Darrell immediately perked up when he saw new people and other dogs. While doggy daycare will be a good temporary solution for Darrell to feel better, it isn’t the same as getting out of boarding and into a home. Please consider fostering this lovely dog. He deserves a comfy place to rest until he finds his forever home!

Darrell is a friendly boy, estimated around 4-5 years old. He may be a little bit older than that, but his teeth look great and he’s in pretty good athletic shape. Darrell can be a little bit shy at first and sometimes new surroundings make him nervous, but he’s as sweet as can be. He’s a pretty mellow boy, and I have yet to hear him bark. He appears to like other dogs, though he is not good with cats. He is kennel trained and walks politely on the leash. Darrell has successfully completed the first half of his heartworm treatment and has been doing well.

He loves daycare …. he is good with both big and little dogs, but he’s pretty chill and just hangs out with everyone. He’s a really calm dog. Only dogs I’ve seen him actually try to play with are little ones, so I think he likes little ones more. Darrell loves belly rubs and giving kisses. He has resting grump face but he’s actually doing really well.
