Happy Gotcha Day Duchess!

MEET DUCHESS! Duchess is new to LFS and has just gotten over kennel cough.  She is 2 years old and around 60 pounds.  Unfortunately she is heartworm positive but is ready to go to a foster home or if she’s lucky, a forever home!  Stay tuned as we learn more about her.

FOSTER UPDATE 06/15:Duchess is such a sweet girl. She was pretty low energy the 1st day we brought her home but still very curious. Yesterday we’ve seen more energy from her as she’s tried to get our dog to play with her but due to the heartworm treatment we have to settle her down. Settling Duchess down is super easy and she loves to be around people. If I’m in my office working, she’s super happy and content to lay on the futon in my office; however, if I get up and leave the office, she’s right by my side.

DUCHESS UPDATE 06/11: I am in awe of this beautiful girl. The resilience she has shown us is just amazing. Duchess has not let anything that has been thrown at her stop her from loving life. From narrowly escaping death’s door at a kill shelter to overcoming kennel cough, to now starting heartworm treatment, this sweet dog has kept a smile on her face the whole time! Duchess has all of the classic labby personality you could ask for! She loves to play with other dogs and loves to get some cuddles from you too!

Duchess has some cool coloring on her face; she’s got speckles of gray around her eyes that gives her so much character. Don’t let the gray fool you! All our vets have estimated Duchess to be around 2 years old, and she’s got the energy level to prove it. Duchess would do great with an active family who could give her plenty of exercise. Because she’s going through heartworm treatment, Duchess has to stay calm right now, and we can tell she’s not super thrilled about it. She can’t wait until she’s cleared to run around again! She gets excited when she sees people, so she does pull on the leash and jump up some. Because of this, she could benefit from some obedience training, but she is a smart girl who would learn quickly.

Undeniably, Duchess is a wonderful dog who would make someone very happy. She is looking for her forever family so that she can have the life she deserves.

**LFS is currently in a foster shortage. Duchess needs a foster home so she doesn’t have to stay in boarding at the vet’s office anymore!! If you’d be interested in fostering Duchess, please visit https://www.labradorfriends.com/foster-2/ or email us at labfriendinfo@gmail.com. Thanks!!**
