Last week we unexpectedly had to say good bye to our wonderful old Chocolate girl, Lily. Once known as “Minnie Pearl” (that got changed quickly), Lily and her litter mate Sadie (our black dog) were adopted through Labrador Friends of the South on October 31st, 2009.

Over the years Lily was a pack-mate to Cleo, Molly, Beylea, Frannie, Zoe, Abbie (who moved to Japan), Angie, Sascha and about 50 foster dogs, mostly Seniors. She got along great with everyone, but was quick remind the new comers that she had seniority in the house.

Lily loved to be touched. She just needed to be rubbed and to be the center of attention. She liked nothing more than lounging in the sun on the porch, the deck or in the back yard. Her favorite thing was just to curl up on the couch.

Lily was part of our family for more than 13 years and we’ll miss her crooked smile. It’s hard to believe she is no longer with us, but we know she’s back among a whole pack of friends.
