Happy Gotcha Day Maria!

MEET MARIA!! This super sweet girl is about 6 years old and one of the newest members of LFS! Maria somehow ended up at the shelter as a stray and though it was obvious she had an owner, no one came to claim her.  LFS was contacted and now it’s time for Maria to have a second chance at a forever home. Maria is a well mannered girl, willing to please. She loves attention and hugs and is just the sweetest thing. She does well with other dogs and made friends with Darrell (also adoptable) easily. Since Maria just got to us, we’re still learning about her personality, so check back soon for more info!

Sadly Maria is heartworm positive, but she is starting treatment and will be heartworm free in no time! We recently took in quite a few heartworm positive dogs, and unfortunately treatment is pretty costly, so if you could please find it in your heart to donate to Maria’s care, please go to https://www.labradorfriends.com/donate-2/ to make a contribution. We are very thankful for any and all donations we get, no matter how big or small!!

Maria will need a foster home where she can relax until she’s adopted. If you can foster Maria, please go to https://www.labradorfriends.com/foster-2/ or email labfriendinfo@gmail.com if you’re already an approved foster.

If you’d be interested in adopting Maria, visit labradorfriends.com/how-to-adopt to fill out an adoption application, or email us at labfriendinfo@gmail.com if you’re already approved.

Foster update 03/06/2019: Our family has fostered Maria for about a week now and she’s settling in nicely.  She is the first foster we’ve ever had that has been accident free.  Maria alerts at the door when she needs to go potty.  We believe she was someone’s pet because of this and because she is fully crate trained, doesn’t bark/whine, no “counter surfing”, and doesn’t chew.  Maria walks well on a leash with minimal pulling.  We have an older lab and two toddlers in our home and she has fit right in.  Even though she’s about six years old, she still wants to play and is energetic, while also enjoys laying around and relaxing with the family.  Maria has interacted well with our kids, our dog, and neighborhood dogs with no signs of aggression.  She doesn’t appear to be very food motivated; however she does eat well.Based on her size and temperament, we think Maria would do well in any home, with or without other pets, small children, or with folks who work full time.  She’s really a great dog and will make a lucky adopter very happy.
