Happy Gotcha Day Matter!

OFFICIALLY INTRODUCING MORGAN’S PUPPIES!!! All of their names start with the letter M! There are 2 girls and 6 boys. Both girls are yellow, and we have 3 yellow males and 3 black males. They are now 7 weeks old and doing great!! While we don’t know what breed dad was, we think he must’ve also had lab in him because these pups all look very labby.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST, this is MATER!! Mater is a special boy. He was born with a deformed front foot that as you can see from the pictures is shorter than his normal feet and bent back a little bit. Mater has been using his little leg to get around much better than we thought he would, but we are still waiting to make any decisions about our plan of action until he is at least 12 weeks old. We’re working closely with our vets and monitoring Mater to determine if amputation would be necessary, and we’re also going to be looking into veterinary prosthetics as an option. We want to do what is best for Mater, but he needs to grow before we can truly evaluate him and make any decisions. He’s been doing great in his foster home and has been following his foster siblings around. He even got to go to work with his foster momma. Stay tuned as we follow Mater’s progress!

Because of the overwhelming interest in these puppies, we’re going to go ahead and start accepting applications for them. If you’re interested in adopting, please go to labradorfriends.com/how-to-adopt to fill out an adoption application or email us if you’re already approved!!!! Mater will not be officially available for adoption for now.

Update 08/ 21/18: Mater is now 23lbs. He went today for his puppy shots and all looks well. He is doing great with potty training, accidents are getting fewer and fewer. He is swimming 2 times a week to help strengthen his left front leg. He is doing a great job swimming. He is a active boy, that loves to play with his foster sister Abbi.  He has learned to jump on the sofa and sleep. He goes on an evening walk everyday around his foster family’s land. One of his favorite times of the day is when he gets fed.

He sleeps all night in his kennel without any accidents.  He is a hard working boy that never gives up.
