Happy Gotcha Day Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth!

MEET MR. DARCY!! Mr. Darcy is a beautiful male yellow lab, around a year old. He came in with Elizabeth, after they were surrendered to a kill shelter following a citation for a case of neglect. Elizabeth was very underweight, extremely heartworm positive, and very pregnant, but unfortunately the stress and poor body condition caused her to lose her puppies prematurely. You can read their story here: https://www.facebook.com/LabradorFriendsoftheSouth/posts/10155812716827108?__tn__=K-R

We believe Darcy was the father of the puppies, despite his young age. He and Elizabeth are very bonded, and as such they must be adopted out together.

Darcy is a super sweet boy. He and Elizabeth haven’t gotten the most socialization in their past, and with all the recent changes in their lives, it is understandable that they are both pretty scared. They’ve been with LFS for about a week now, and they’ve both already made great improvement! They both look more happy and comfortable, and they are learning how to walk on the leash better. Darcy still follows Elizabeth around some. While he is a bit timid at first, Darcy will come up to you and put his head on your hand for scratches once he’s comfortable with you. We are confident that with some patience and TLC, Darcy will blossom into a more confident, happier pup in no time.

Darcy and Elizabeth seem to get along fine with other dogs. They would likely do best in a home with older children, as loud and sudden movements scare them. We are not sure how they are around cats.

DARCY AND ELIZABETH NEED A FOSTER HOME!! Because they are a bonded pair, they must go together!! If you would like to foster Darcy and Elizabeth together, please go to https://labradorfriends.com/foster-2/ to fill out a foster application or send us an email at labfriendinfo@gmail.com if you are already an approved foster.

We are still in need of donations to help cover the cost of Elizabeth’s emergency surgery and vetting, as well as Darcy’s neuter and vetting. If you’d be able to and would like to contribute to their care, please go to https://labradorfriends.com/donate-2/ to do so. THANK YOU!!!
