Happy Gotcha Day Nigel!

MEET NIGEL!! This handsome man is about 3 years old and just came to LFS. Nigel is as sweet as can be, and his tail never stops wagging. He is a cuddly boy with a lot of love to give! Nigel gets along great with everyone, dogs included. He appears to be crate trained and walks well on the leash. Stay tuned as we learn more about his personality!

Nigel came up heartworm positive while at the shelter. He has already started treatment and is doing well, and soon he will be rid of those pesky worms! Unfortunately heartworm treatment is quite expensive, so if you find it in your heart to donate to Nigel’s care, please visit https://labradorfriends.com/donate-2/ to do so. We greatly appreciate it! If you have questions about heartworm disease or heartworm treatment, please send us an email at labfriendrachel@gmail.com.

If you’d be interested in adopting Nigel, please go to labradorfriends.com/how-to-adopt to fill out an adoption application, or email us at labfriendinfo@gmail.com if you’re already approved to adopt.

Update 01/22/2021: Nigel is having a blast on his mini-vacay with LFS alum Watson while his foster mom is out of town.  He is such a sweet, well behaved boy!  He has nice manners and is house trained.  He’s great with other dogs and loves people…  we just can’t believe he hasn’t been scooped up yet!

He had his first heartworm treatment last week so he’s on his way to being good as new very soon! We are happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have regarding his treatment so please don’t let that stop you from meeting this adorable boy!

Update 01/5/2020: We absolutely adore Nigel! He has a very happy go lucky personality. He loves playing this his foster sister and has been awesome with kids. Nigel has a great energy level, after a short walk and some rough housing with his foster sister, he is ready to chew on a bone, lookout on the porch or take a nap. He would be great in pretty much any environment. Nigel hasn’t had an accident in the house for the past four days. I have also left him out of the crate while I run errands with absolutely no issues.

I walked into the bedroom this afternoon and it looks like Nigel continues to make himself right at home! See pics below

Update 12/24/2019: Nigel has been such a sweet boy since we picked him up. He is still a bit skittish but is coming out of his shell. He desperately wants to be loved and please you. There have been a few accidents in the house but he responds well to correction and has started going to the door when he needs to go out. He loves walks and is great on the leash. He also LOVES other dogs! He looks to be a husky/lab mix and I would say his energy level is about average. If he does get a spark of energy he will begin to throw a toy to himself . I am so glad I was able to give this sweet boy a foster home before the holidays.

Update 12/20/2019: Nigel was a little wary of jumping into my SUV when I drove him to the adoption event but once settled in he road like a champ!  He was very calm and enjoyed looking out the window while taking in the view.  I was very impressed with him at the event.  He was excellent with every human he came in contact with and was super friendly and gentle with all the children even the very young ones.  He gave lots of kisses and is not shy at all.

Nigel had a blast playing with Georgia (aka LFS alum Mercedes) and Tumble.  They were super sweet together and played hard but very amicably.  He got very excited and jumped off all four feet to show how ready to play he was!!

Update 12/04/2019: Nigel is a happy boy who takes a second to warm up to new people. He also takes a second to warm up to new dogs but loves to play with them once introduced. He is very interested in. ATA but listens to their corrections. He is a very handsome boy who has won all of us over at the vet.

Spread the love
