We adopted Reagan from you on October 2, 2021 when he was 10.
We made the difficult decision this past weekend to send him on to the rainbow bridge. He had been dealing with worsening arthritis in his hips for the last year or so along with a few other medical issues. A recent oral surgery indicated either possible melanoma or other cancer. His appetite had suddenly decreased and he was losing the ability get up on his own or even stay up on his feet once we helped by lifting him up on his hind legs as we had been doing for some time. We felt that his quality of life had diminished to the point that letting him go was the best thing for him.
He loved us well and we in our imperfect humanity did the best we could for him. He loved to play fetch and swim in the river and chase frisbees and catch balls before his hips limited his mobility. He was like a puppy again enjoying those moments and how we wish he had more time for more of them. Enjoyed his walks and hanging out on the screen porch. Loved his trips to Starbucks for a large pup cup or the occasional chicken nugget treat at the drive thru. Never passed up a treat.
He was with us through some difficult times and in the great mystery of our lives and relationships it may have been his ultimate purpose to come to us when he did. We are so grateful to have had him for the 3 years and 7 months that he was with us. A long time considering he was 10 when adopted.
Thank you for the care your organization provided to him. We will be making a donation in his memory to help other pups find their forever homes.
Sincerely,
Karen and Rich Phillips
