Happy Gotcha Day Ruby!

MEET RUBY!! This adorable girl is sweet as pie and one of the newest additions to LFS. She’s about 7 years old and was found as a stray. We rescued her after no one reclaimed her from the shelter, and we think whoever ends up adopting this precious girl is going to be lucky as ever! Ruby is a loving girl who rode well in the car and just wanted to be able to give kisses the whole time. She appears to be kennel trained and seems to know some commands already, so she must’ve had a home at some point. She seems to get along fine with other dogs and didn’t care much about young Barkley (also adoptable) jumping in her face at the vets office. Ruby may have had a few litters in the past, but now that’s all behind her, and she will be spayed in the coming days.

Stay tuned for more info as we get Ruby checked out by our vet and settled in!

Foster update 04/19: We’ve had Ruby for about a week now and she is an “AllStar”.  We don’t know her exact origins, but we believe she was someone’s dog up until recently.  She’s heartworm free, has a healthy GI tract, walks very well on a leash, and had ZERO accidents in our house.  She is also fully crate trained.  Temperamentally, she is great.  She’s a snuggler and would be a quasi lapdog, if allowed.  She just wants to be at your side and to be part of the action.  Ruby has gotten along with our older lab, who can be grouchy at times, and all the neighborhood dogs she’s met.  Her absolute favorite activity is to play fetch.  If Ruby is awake, she has a tennis ball close by at all times–even when she eats.  We have two kids, six and four years old, and she adores them. She has very good energy for a 7 year old dog, but will calm down when play time is over and relax well.  Ruby would do great with a family with children or more active owners because she loves her walks and to play.

Foster update 04/14:  Miss Ruby is awesome. She was definitely someone’s dog. She knows several commands, is potty trained and always has a tennis ball in her mouth for a game of fetch. She’s good with the kids too.
