Meet Sweet Pea (now Maple)! This sweet girl is 2 1/2 years old and is crate-trained and knows several commands. She was adopted back in January but she is too high energy for her current doggie companion, so is being returned to LFS. She does great with older kids (she may knock younger kids over) and other dogs, but does not always like to share her toys. Maple is a very active girl and her ideal home is an active home ready to keep her busy. She is fine with dogs as long as they dont mind her desire to play. She is an high energy girl who needs physical and mental stimulation (daycare, long walks, run, tricks or obedience training). Maple would be a great dog for someone who wants a smart dog to have fun with.
UPDATE FROM FOSTER PARENTS: I just wanted to give a quick update on Maple. We picked her up last evening and she is honestly the sweetest most affectionate dog. We are loving her and she is doing so well. She went on a big walk with us last night to the park and was able to run off a little energy and slept through the night without any issue in her crate. Not only is she gorgeous, but she is so well mannered and easy going. She hasn’t quite loosened up to play with all of her toys, but she’s getting there. Right now all she pretty much wants is her tummy rubbed, which we are happy to do! Maple would make a lovable addition to any home – she is such a love bug!
Maple has a lot of red in her. That is what makes the high energy. I have a red lab…high energy even at 11

Maple is actually located in Atlanta, GA.
I just put in an application today and put that I was interested in Bailey or Anne Marie but Maple looks likes a good match too. I see that a lot had put in apps for Anne Marie but hopefully we will find one soon. They are all so sweet. Will you please put Maple down too. ;))

We would love to adopt sweet pea, but we don’t have a fenced in yard. However the house is on 12acres in the Blue Ridge mountains and our closest neighbor is about a 1/2 mile away. Would the lack of fence eliminate us?
No, the lack of fence would not exclude you from adoption. We would just have to talk carefully about which dog would fit that situation. I am not sure is Sweet Pea would be that dog but I can try to find out. Why dont you get approved for adoption in the meantime? Start with going to http://www.labradorfriends.com and click on the Adopt button/picture to see our adoption policies. There you will find the adoption application. Complete it, submit it, and pay the $15 processing fee. We will approve you for adoption in a couple of days and then contact you to discuss our dogs and set up an appointment to meet them.
